Accounting Manager

The Accounting Manager will play a pivotal role in managing and reviewing the full month-end close, overseeing the recording of key transactions as the business expands into new product lines and regions, and leading process improvements to integrate accounting procedures with the company’s financial systems. The position involves collaboration across multiple departments such as Financial Planning & Analysis, tax, and operations to support the growing complexity of the business globally.
Responsibilities
+ Manage and analyze the full month-end close cycle and reporting.
+ Own financial interpretation of business activity among business units, departments, and projects to ensure accurate financial reporting.
+ Oversee a team of individual contributors through business processes and month-end close improvements, mentoring them to handle more complex transactions and workpapers.
+ Ensure the application of US GAAP accounting principles and practices, demonstrating proficiency in areas related to the general ledger and financial reporting.
+ Collaborate globally and cross-functionally to build scalable accounting and operational processes, maintain a 6-day close cycle, and improve timelines and efficiencies to support global growth.
+ Conduct variance analysis to support business partners and the FP&A team.
+ Work with third-party accounting firms in various regions to manage local statutory filings and tax requirements.
+ Oversee general accounting functions, including preparing and reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, variance analysis, and maintaining general ledger integrity.
+ Oversee annual statutory audits and manage local audit firms to ensure compliance with country and entity-specific regulations.
+ Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Essential Skills
+ Expert knowledge in working with business units, identifying key business transactions, and translating operations into financial transactions.
+ Ability to identify detailed transaction coding errors and vet financial data for accuracy.
+ Self-motivated with a continuous learning mindset, seeking new information through technology and industry best practices.
+ Strong relationship management skills across departments with competing priorities.
+ Proficiency in managing foreign currency transactions and understanding their impact on GL consolidation and US reporting.
+ Ability to create procedures for day-to-day operations in compliance with SOX requirements.
+ Strong knowledge of Excel, including pivot tables and lookups.
+ Demonstrated proficiency in standard MS Office software applications.
+ Excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ CPA certification required, with preference for Big 4 experience, but regional firms will be considered.
+ Experience in manufacturing and public accounting is required.
+ Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, though open to any enterprise ERP.
Work Environment
This role offers a hybrid work schedule, requiring presence in the office two days a week, specifically on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The team comprises eight members focused on the general ledger. The position is within the manufacturing industry and requires adherence to a professional dress code when onsite.

This is a Contract position based out of Irvine, California.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $85.00 - $98.00/hr.
