    Position: Welding Technology Instructor; Full Time

     

    Description: Under general supervision, the instructor will be responsible for providing guidance and instruction necessary to prepare students with the technical competencies essential to the Welding Technology program in both day and evening classes. The instructor will need to be able to pass a Stick Pipe test 6G 6010/7018 and a Tig Pipe test 6G. The instructor will perform all aspects of instruction for the Welding Technology program: effectively use oral and written communication skills and contain knowledge of current in-field procedures, complete all reports and records in a timely manner, maintain accurate inventory of all assigned properties, and maintain qualifications for employment as described by the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) Policy Manual and accreditation standards. The selected candidate must be able to perform physical activities, such as but not limited to, lifting heavy items (up to 50 lbs. unassisted), bending, standing, climbing, and walking. The selected candidate must also withstand a variety of indoor and outdoor environmental conditions.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Diploma in Welding or related field and related work experience.

    • Ability to pass a Stick Pipe test 6G 6010/7018 and a Tig Pipe test 6G

    • Teaching responsibilities are typically performed in a classroom/lab environment with the employee intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling for three (3) to four (4) continuous hours at a time.

    • The employee frequently lifts lightweight objects up to 50 lbs.

    • The work is performed in campus buildings and outdoors where the employee is occasionally exposed to cold or inclement weather.

    • The exposure to dirt, dust, grease, machinery with moving parts, chemicals, and fumes is possible in the lab environment.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience developing and teaching lessons individually and in classroom environments.

    • Knowledge of online instruction and gradebooks

    Salary/Benefits:

    Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
