    Postdoctoral Associate

    **Required Qualifications:** (as evidenced by an attached resume)

     

    Doctoral Degree (or foreign equivalent) in Biochemistry, Molecular biology, Pharmacology, Cancer Biology or a closely related field degree in hand by October 1, 2025. One Year of research experience including, Hematopoietic Stem Cell Biology, Enzymology, Transcriptomics, Preclinical models of cancer.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Research experience in the following areas, Lipidomics, Proteomics, Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics.

    Description of Duties:

    The Postdoctoral Associate will work on an NIH-funded project focusing on the roles of alkaline ceramidase 2 (ACER2) in chemotoxicity and cancer chemoresistance in Dr. Cungui Mao’s (https://renaissance.stonybrookmedicine.edu/medicine/gastroenterology/mao\_lab\_people/mao) laboratory in the department of Medicine and Cancer Center at Stony Brook University. ACER2 is a member of the alkaline ceramidase (ACER) family, originally identified in humans by the Mao lab. Recent findings from the lab indicate that ACER2 plays important roles in regulating bioactive sphingolipids and in mediating cellular responses that affect cancer chemotherapy.     • Conduct experiments within the predetermined research scope and methodology of the aforementioned project.

    • Collect and analyze data, including periodical/literature search and utilizing specialized skills in related field to analyze the collected data.

    • Participate/assist in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or presentations.

    • Perform lab maintenance, including equipment maintenance and ordering of supplies as needed.

    • Offer duties as assigned which may include attending scientific conferences and meetings.

    The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
