First Student** **is now hiring an** **Assistant Transportation Manager** **to join our team serving the Memphis Shelby County School District. This position plays a key role in supporting the Contractual Manager with day-to-day operations, ensuring safe and reliable transportation for our students.

We’re looking for a hands-on leader who can balance operational needs with a strong commitment to safety, performance, and customer service.

Responsibilities

+ Ensure all home-to-school routes are completed safely, efficiently, and on time

+ Communicate with drivers regarding performance and operational concerns

+ Investigate and resolve client complaints in a timely manner

+ Monitor on-time performance and implement improvements as needed

+ Conduct safety checks and address potential issues proactively

+ Assist with the review and resolution of union grievances

+ Oversee dispatch operations to ensure proper driver and vehicle assignments

+ Review and correct athletic trip invoices in accordance with company policies

Qualifications

+ High school diploma or equivalent

+ 3–5 years of experience in transportation

+ 2–3 years of supervisory experience

+ Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

+ Basic understanding of vehicle maintenance and mechanical processes

+ Strong organizational and time management skills

+ Willingness to work extended hours, including weekends

+ Reliable personal vehicle for travel within the service area
