    Job Summary and Span of Control

     

    The role collaborates with product groups, procurement teams, customer teams, emissions regulations, and external suppliers to establish and execute the vision and strategy of fuel systems operations.

    KEY FUNCTIONS:

    _EHS Management for Campus_

     

    Champion Safety-Driven Strategy. Properly identify the High-Energy exposures and deploy engineering and critical controls to minimize risk to our Employees. Champion HOP process to drive the right culture of Safety. Develop and deploy the safety recipe for all operations utilizing a PDCA approach. Strive towards a predictive/proactive approach. Validate adequacy of training programs for all roles. Validate environmental compliance and develop roadmap to reduce emissions, landfill waste and water usage.

     

    _Fuel Systems LEAN Operations_

     

    Champion and drive Lean processes to improve the flow, efficiency, and cost structure of our FS business. Manage all internal fist fit operations including component manufacturing/machining, heat treat, assembly and test, driving continuous improvement in PQVC. Benchmark KPIs against competitor, supplier and remanufacturing operations.

     

    _Technical Services for Fuel Systems_

     

    Develop and maintain manufacturing processes, develop and execute the asset lifecycle management strategy for the facility, manage maintenance plan for M&E and facility infrastructure. Fully deploy and decode NCI (New Capital Introduction) processes to re-capitalize our FS business in Pontiac, IL

     

    _Quality for Campus_

     

    Fully execute the Caterpillar Quality Management System with relentless execution of related processes. Deliver technical training by job role and maintain skills matrix. Exceed customer expectations by championing the Quality Driven strategy (effective Operator, Process, Systems initiatives to fully protect the Customers.)

     

    _Future Planning for Fuel Systems_

     

    Utilize deep industry expertise to develop the long-term strategy for fuel systems and operations including footprint, core competencies, process innovation and validation of external supplier capability for peak shaving and/or permanent sourcing. Deliver state-of-the-art, validated, turnkey processes to operations for every NPI program (CR900).

     

    _Supply Chain for Campus_

     

    Execute the Demand portion of the S&OP process proactively addressing customer needs and capacity shortfalls. Execute Production schedules to meet strategic buffer targets to meet and maintain 95% CSD.

     

    Gaps to Address

    People:

    + Improve safety performance by FULL deployment of Safety Driven strategy

    + Robust and proactive approach to Environmental compliance

    + Improve employee experience (EI scores) > 90%

    + Reduce and maintain turnover < acceptable levels for location and type of jobs.

    + Balance span of control for section managers per CPS guidelines

    + Close talent gaps in all roles – develop effective training matrices

    + Contingency planning – execute cross-training plan for all critical roles

    + Improve employment brand in the community – leverage United Way

    Quality:

    + Champion Quality Driven to exceed PPM, Warranty $, and Supplier Pain Index targets

    + Revitalize BIQ best practices to protect the customer

    + Meet and maintain process capability gaps and establish Key Process/Product features with CpK > 1.3

    + Improve process discipline and problem-solving skills. Reduce issue recurrence.

    Velocity:

    + IMPROVE DELIVERY PERFORMANCE (> 95% for Aftermarket and Prime Product facilities)

    + Follow the quality recipe to deliver increased yield

    + Implement basic OEE processes for constraint management

    + Develop and implement Asset Lifecycle Management strategy

    + Execute the S&OP process and manage hard and soft capacity effectively and build strategic buffers through the value chain

    Cost:

    + Exceed variable and period cost targets by improving overall asset efficiency

    + Prioritize capital investments to meet PQVC targets

    + Develop and execute manufacturing strategy for fuel systems

    **Degree Requirement:** Engineering or Business Degree. MBA desired

    Skills you must have:

    **Budgeting -** _Level Extensive Experience:_ Knowledge of organization's budget process; ability to apply policies and practices for planning and administering a budget.

    **Quality Management -** _Level Extensive Experience:_ Knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques and ability to create and support an environment that meets the quality goals of the organization.

    **Analytical Thinking -** _Level Expert:_ Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.

    **Planning and Organizing -** _Level Expert:_ Knowledge of the process of planning and arranging tasks and resources; ability to plan and organize both time and resources to get things completed while structuring and maintaining work in a systematic and highly methodical way.

    **Performance Management -** _Level Expert:_ Knowledge of successful performance management techniques; ability to apply organization's performance management system, practices, and tools to developing and improving individual, team, and organizational performance.

    **Manufacturing Operations -** _Level Expert:_ Knowledge of manufacturing operations; ability to perform day-to-day operations of a manufacturing plant or facility for products.

    **Manufacturing Safety -** Level Extensive Experience: Knowledge of manufacturing safety; ability to identify work-related hazards and perform necessary activities to meet regulatory requirements for the safety and protection of workers, environment and site.

    **Manufacturing Standards, Procedures and Policies -** _Level Extensive Experience:_ Knowledge of organizational standards, procedures and policies in manufacturing activities; ability to plan, guide, and monitor manufacturing processes for compliance.

    **Establishing and Driving a Vision -** _Level Expert:_ Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective Vision to improve manufacturing footprint. Fully understands the Lean methodology to properly establish action plans to improve overall PQVC performance.

    **Communication -** _Level Expert:_ The candidate needs to be extremely effective at communicating Vision and expectations at all levels of the organization both in written and oral deliveries. Candidates need high level of competency in public speaking (internal and external to Cat Pontiac).

    Top candidates will also have:

    + Experience leading manufacturing and/or supply chain teams

    + Experience in machining, heat treat and assembly

    + Experience coordinating NPI/NTI projects

    + Experience with order management, capacity planning and S&OP

    + Hands on experience with lean deployment at manufacturing facilities

    This position is eligible for stock or other equity grants pursuant to Caterpillar’s long-term incentive plan.

    Summary Pay Range:

    $199,680.00 - $299,520.00

     

    Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
