Animal Specialty Center in Yonkers, New York is seeking a Part-Time or Per Diem Radiation Therapist who is looking to join a fast paced, forward thinking hospital.
Compens ation: $35 - $50 per hour based on qualifications and experience

Radiation Therapist:
+ Maintains appropriate treatment and simulation records and data.
+ Performs required quality assurance procedures and documents accordingly.
+ Reviews all set-up instructions, radiation prescriptions, consents, treatment plan, and any other documentation related to treatment delivery.
+ Visually monitors the patient during treatment.
+ Maintains licensure, registration, and certifications as required.
+ Works within the Practice Standards as defined by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists.
+ Explains treatment process to the client in a clear and concise manner that promotes understanding when needed.
+ Answers any questions that the client may have which is within the scope of practice of the radiation therapist.
+ In charge of inventory and ordering of radiation supplies and equipment.
+ Oversee radiation CT simulation and positioning for new patient set ups.
+ Collaborate closely with radiation oncologist on all aspects of patient treatment.
+ Assists licensed veterinary technician and veterinary assistants with patient preparation and recovery.
Required Skills:
+ Two years of clinical experience or graduate of a JRCERT-accredited program in radiation therapy or a suitable equivalent
+ Certified and registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiation Therapy or ARRT Board exam eligible
+ Eligible for licensing by the New York State Department of Health as a radiologic technologist.
+ Dosimetry experience or willingness to learn dosimetry – be responsible for registering imaging for treatment planning and contouring of normal structures
+ Strong medical skills and knowledge.
+ Patient/client-oriented.
+ Excellent communication skills.
+ Proficiency with computer platforms and applications for Varian Eclipse and Aria. (Training will be provided.)
+ Experience with stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT), and image guided radiotherapy (IGRT).
+ Demonstrates enthusiasm and initiative to begin and complete tasks.
Desired Skills:
+ Two years of clinical experience in Radiation Therapy or any related health science field
+ Experience with Varian TrueBeam radiotherapy preferred
+ Strong interest in veterinary medicine and knowledge of the field.
