Job Title: Pattern Development Technician
Job Description
The Pattern Development Technician will support the Product Development and Engineering group projects by creating and developing patterns and other samples from technical drawings, sketches, and other documentation provided by engineering, designers, or others in support of new and existing products. Collaboration is a key aspect of this role, as the selected candidate will be expected to provide input to make the best product and process design possible. The pattern maker will support pilot runs of new designs as needed and perform product testing in accordance with company requirements using testing equipment.
Responsibilities
+ Create and modify digitized patterns for new upholstered furniture products.
+ Develop and assist with pattern design cut-and-sew procedural operation specifications as needed.
+ Create prototype markers and cut files for initial development units.
+ Collaborate with the manufacturing team on Engineering Change Requests related to pattern design.
+ Work with the Pattern Layout Technician and Cutting Engineer on necessary pattern design revisions and improvements.
+ Assist the product design and manufacturing teams with troubleshooting, continuous improvement opportunities, and the implementation of best practices.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in creating and modifying digitized patterns for upholstered furniture.
+ Ability to translate technical drawings and CAD models into accurate cut-and-sew patterns.
+ Strong collaboration and cross-functional communication skills.
+ Ability to provide feedback on foam shapes, ergonomic performance, and production feasibility.
+ Experience in troubleshooting pattern-related issues like seam strain or fabric tension.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Hands-on experience in upholstery pattern making, foam application, and prototype builds.
+ Experience with furniture construction, CAD modeling, and upholstery fabrication techniques is preferred.
+ Familiarity with tools like AutoCAD, Adobe Photoshop, and upholstery-specific software.
+ Manual dexterity and understanding of fabric behavior under tension.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50000.00 - $65000.00/yr.
