Job Title: Product Design Engineer - Fabric & Pattern Development
Job Description
The Product Design Engineer - Fabric & Pattern Development will be directly involved in New Product Introduction projects from concept generation to product launch. This role focuses on driving the development of pattern creation using designated software programs. The engineer will create upholstery patterns for new collections, validate new products, specify manufacturing processes, and collaborate with various departments to meet project goals and objectives.
Responsibilities
+ Emphasize teamwork and maintain a customer-driven attitude to achieve mutually agreed upon goals.
+ Design engineered solutions for the manufacture of residential products to improve quality performance and cost.
+ Lead and participate in development teams to meet project goals and adhere to production schedules.
+ Specify upholstery patterns for new or existing designs.
+ Validate designs using engineering calculations or analysis software.
+ Assist in prototyping and trialing new product designs or improvements.
+ Create drawings and product documentation for various departments including PD&E, Manufacturing, Quality, Marketing, and Merchandising.
+ Process Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) in a timely manner.
+ Stay informed with Intellectual Property (IP) considerations in the furniture industry.
+ Enter and maintain product data in the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
+ Complete other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
+ Domestic and some international travel required.
Essential Skills
+ 3D CAD & Pattern Development Expertise
+ Experience in pattern design using computer-aided software.
+ Ability to validate designs using engineering calculations or analysis software.
+ Cross-Functional Collaboration & Project Management
+ Proven ability to lead and participate in New Product Introduction (NPI) teams.
+ Strong interpersonal skills to work with Manufacturing, Quality, Marketing, and Merchandising.
+ Experience managing timelines, Engineering Change Requests (ECRs), and ERP systems.
+ Furniture Industry Knowledge & Process Engineering
+ Understanding of residential furniture manufacturing processes.
+ Familiarity with Intellectual Property (IP) considerations in design.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Design Engineering or related field from an accredited university.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
+ Experience with solid modeling using a 3D CAD program.
+ Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $82000.00 - $86000.00/yr.
