Engineering Technician

Job Description

The Technician is responsible for material testing including Aggregate, Soil, Asphalt, Non-destructive Testing (NDT), Concrete, Concrete Density, and Steel. The role involves visiting multiple job sites throughout central Iowa, interacting with contractors and project owners, and collecting samples for testing. The technician ensures compliance with shop drawings and maintains logs for concrete and soil testing.

Responsibilities

+ Conduct material testing for Aggregate, Soil, Asphalt, NDT, Concrete, Concrete Density, and Steel.

+ Visit multiple job sites daily across central Iowa.

+ Interact with contractors and project owners.

+ Collect and test samples of soil and concrete.

+ Inspect reinforcing steel for compliance with shop drawings.

+ Log and track results from testing equipment for concrete and soil.

Essential Skills

+ Experience in soil, concrete, and materials testing.

+ Knowledge of construction, aggregate, asphalt, and NDT.

+ Understanding of environmental and civil engineering principles.

+ 2+ years of construction testing experience in Earth, Dirt Work, Concrete, Steel, or related materials.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Bachelor's degree in Geology, Environmental Sciences, or a related field is preferred.

+ Active Driver's License.

Work Environment

The position requires working 40-60 hours per week, sometimes 6 days a week, with variable start times between 7 am and 8 am. Occasionally, overnight stays might be required, up to 10 nights per year. The work is primarily field-based, with a supportive family-run company culture. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $28.00/hr.
