Job Title: Shipping and Receiving Lead
Job Description
As a Lab Technician S&R, you will be responsible for managing the lab Packing & Shipping department. Your primary focus will be to pack and ship customer orders, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of products. Additionally, you will monitor inventory of packing and shipping supplies, order and receive necessary supplies, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
Responsibilities
+ Pack, ship, and complete shipping-related documentation of lab products in compliance with SOPs and USDA regulations.
+ Serve as an authorized USDA sampler and enter test requests for non-licensed products into the Laboratory Testing Management system.
+ Coordinate shipments with the Customer Service team and lab management.
+ Enter items into inventory and verify the accuracy of incoming products and NetSuite entries.
+ Ensure order contents' accuracy, including lot numbers, quantities, and associated documentation.
+ Maintain proficiency in all SOPs and ensure documentation complies with USDA or company policy.
+ Conduct physical inventory counts and complete necessary documentation.
+ Transfer products to and from the Storrs lab as needed.
+ Assist with documentation and shipment of custom customer orders.
+ Monitor equipment temperatures and ensure the proper functioning of equipment.
+ Maintain a database of supplies, suppliers, and supply costs.
+ Monitor and rotate supplies for shipping using a first-in, first-out method.
+ Perform supply counts for inventory values as needed.
+ Research new products and suppliers for packing and shipping materials.
+ Ensure proper cleaning and maintenance of work and storage areas, adhering to established safety procedures.
+ Maintain procedures for hazardous material shipping and international shipping guidelines, ensuring compliance with IATA and DOT regulations.
+ Support inventory management of lab products and assist Lab Production management with bottling and production scheduling.
+ Serve as a role model for effective time management, communication, and resource utilization.
+ Develop, write, and maintain departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
+ Maintain training files and train employees on Packing & Shipping procedures.
+ Assist with manufacturing activities in the Lab Production department as needed.
Essential Skills
+ Proficient in inventory management and control.
+ Experience with shipping and receiving, including packaging and labeling.
+ Competence in ERP systems and data entry.
+ Strong skills in material handling, cycle counts, and general labor.
+ Ability to perform supply chain management and loading tasks.
+ Proficient in using shipping and freight management software.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Education: High school diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.).
+ Experience: 2-3 years of related experience.
+ An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted.
+ Math skills are required.
Work Environment
The work environment involves regular exposure to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level is usually quiet to moderate. Employees must regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds, frequently up to 50 pounds, and occasionally up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, depth perception, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Physical demands include standing, walking, bending, using both hands, reaching, and typing at a computer.
Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Windham, Connecticut.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $52000.00 - $62400.00/yr.
AVS Bio is the worlds largest producer of Specific Pathogen Free eggs as well as laboratory products and services for the development and manufacture of Biologics. We are establishing a research group to expand our new product offerings across both human and animal health markets.
