    Decommissioning Technician

    Job Description

    The Decommissioning Technician plays a critical role in the safe, compliant, and efficient retirement of pharmaceutical manufacturing and laboratory equipment. This position involves direct, physical work including cleaning, disassembly, data handling, and coordination with internal teams and external vendors. The technician ensures all activities meet GMP, FDA, and environmental standards while supporting documentation and audit readiness.

    Responsibilities

    + Perform decommissioning and decontamination of pharmaceutical equipment.

    + Document and archive equipment history, validation records, and PM data.

    + Plan and ensure compliance with decommissioning processes.

    + Install equipment, including working under and above hoods, and climbing ladders to access equipment assets.

    + Move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds across a multiple building campus.

    + Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors to ensure timely completion of tasks.

    Essential Skills

    + Experience in decommissioning equipment in a pharma GMP setting.

    + Prior GMP experience.

    + Familiarity with safety protocols for removal and disposal of pharmaceutical equipment.

    + Experience in documenting and archiving equipment history, validation records, and PM data.

    + Ability to read and follow SOPs, technical manuals, and safety procedures.

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    + High school diploma or technical certification; associate degree preferred.

    + 2+ years of experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing, facilities, or equipment handling.

    + Familiarity with GMP, FDA regulations, and cleanroom protocols.

    + Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.

    + Comfortable communicating and coordinating with facilities and engineering teams.

    + Ability to follow directions and exhibit a proactive attitude.

    Work Environment

    The position requires physical activities such as climbing ladders and moving equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. The work spans across a multiple building campus, requiring flexibility and mobility. The role involves working in compliance with GMP and FDA standards in a cleanroom setting.

     

    Job Type & Location

     

    This is a Contract position based out of Framingham, Massachusetts.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $50.00/hr.
