What you'll do

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) is a vital member of the healthcare team, responsible for delivering compassionate, hands-on patient care while also supporting essential administrative and communication functions of the unit. This hybrid role ensures smooth unit operations and promotes a safe, organized, and patient-centered care environment.

+ Provide direct care under the supervision of the RN/LPN, including hygiene, mobility, nutrition, and comfort

+ Monitor and report changes in patient condition to nursing staff

+ Answer unit phones and serve as a liaison between patients, families, medical staff, and ancillary departments

+ Manage admissions, discharges, and transfers within the EMR system

+ Maintain accurate and organized patient records, charts, and logs

+ Order and restock supplies; maintain cleanliness and readiness of unit

+ Support coordination of tests, procedures, and patient transport

+ Uphold confidentiality, professionalism, and exceptional customer service

+ Other duties as assigned

What we need from you

Education:

+ High School Diploma or GED, preferred

Experience:

+ Previous experience in a healthcare setting, preferred

+ Proficiency with computers and EMR systems, preferred

License/ Certification:

+ BLS certification within 6 months of hire date, required

Physical Requirements:

+ Light Work - Exerting up to 20 lbs of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg control requires exertion of forces greater than that of sedentary work and if the worker sits most of the time, the job is considered light work

Travel:

+ No travel required

Physical Requirements:

+ Heavy Work - Exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs, of force constantly to move objects.

+ Occasional balancing, climbing, crouching, typing/clerical/dexterity, kneeling, repetitive motion

+ Frequent grasping, hearing, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, seeing/ monitor/computer use, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity (color, depth, perception), walking

+ Constant fit testing

Hazards:

+ Occasional burns, chemical, electrical

+ Frequent bodily fluids/bloodborne exposure

Working Conditions:

+ Occasional noise, wet and/or humid, dust, gases, mists, odors

Travel:

+ No Travel

Pay Transparency

Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards. The above compensation range represents a good faith belief of the compensation range by Bassett Healthcare Network, and its entities and affiliates, at the time of this posting or advertisement.

Pay Range Minimum:

USD $16.98/Hr.

Pay Range Maximum:

USD $25.47/Hr.
