Primary Purpose
The Instructional Assistant will serve as an instructional and lab assistant within the Art & Design Department. Under the guidance of the course instructor, this individual will support the education of students in digital art techniques including, but not limited to: digital illustration, graphic design, user experience/interface design, and digital photography/videography. Responsibilities will include preparing and maintaining labs and assisting with classroom instruction and evaluation of student progress. The position will also involve administrative tasks, such as organizing supplies and assisting with grading and feedback.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
+ Prepare, organize, and clean the digital art lab environments, ensuring necessary equipment and resources are available for instruction.
+ Assist faculty with demonstrations, guidance, observation, and evaluation of student work and essential skills in digital art techniques.
+ Maintain and update records of student progress, project assessments, and course materials (both digitally and on paper.)
+ Reinforce knowledge and skills introduced by the instructor, including digital illustration, graphic design, user experience/interface design and digital photography/videography.
+ Provide support to faculty with copying, organizing, and distributing class materials.
+ Assist with the setup and breakdown of special projects, workshops, or events related to the digital art program.
+ Assist with student and workforce communication.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Individuals must possess these knowledge, skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the duties and responsibilities of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities. The individual is expected to follow College work rules and policies.
Proficiency in digital art software, including but not limited to Adobe Creative Suite (including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), and other relevant programs.
+ Ability to assist in troubleshooting software and hardware issues.
+ Knowledge of digital art techniques, including digital illustration, graphic design, user experience/interface design and digital photography/videography.
+ Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritize varied tasks in a fast-paced environment.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective teaching support and feedback delivery.
+ Ability to work with diverse student populations and adapt to different learning styles.
+ Collaborative and team-oriented with a proactive attitude toward helping students succeed.
Ergonomic Requirements
Regular office hours are established between 8 am – 5 pm during the workweek. A flexible work schedule, including nights and weekends, may be necessary due to the nature of the responsibilities.
Incumbent must be able to function effectively indoors in an office environment engaged in work of primarily a sedentary nature. Requires the ability to work at a workstation for extended periods, as well as using computers and other digital equipment. Occasional lifting up to 25lbs. All individuals are required to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Minimum Requirements
Education:
+ Associate’s degree or Certificate of Completion in Digital Art, Graphic Design, Fine Arts, or a related field.
Experience:
+ Experience with graphic design, vector and raster illustration, digital photography, and related software (Adobe Creative Suite, etc.). A portfolio showcasing relevant digital art skills and experience must be included with application.
