Maintenance Mechanic

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic with at least three years of maintenance or electrician experience, including two years in a manufacturing environment. The role requires the ability to read schematics and a preference for experience with PLCs. A high school diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, is necessary.

Responsibilities

+ Install, troubleshoot, adjust, and repair equipment, electrical components, and special purpose machines as assigned.

+ Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems, referring to blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs as needed.

+ Operate a variety of hand and power tools to repair, grease, weld, cut, fabricate, change parts, and complete assigned tasks.

+ Inspect drives, motors, and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, and perform other maintenance actions following checklists.

+ Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure machines run smoothly.

+ Dismantle equipment to remove defective parts using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools.

+ Operate various equipment and machinery when maintenance tasks are low.

Essential Skills

+ Troubleshooting skills in maintenance and repair.

+ Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, and welding.

+ Ability to read blueprints and schematics.

+ Proficiency in using hand tools and heavy equipment.

+ Mechanical aptitude and experience with motors and 3-phase systems.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Working knowledge of basic safety programs, particularly lock-out/tag-out procedures.

+ Experience in a manufacturing environment.

+ Ability to lift up to 65 lbs. and perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, sitting, bending, and climbing.

+ Capability to work in dusty, hot, and cold conditions.

Work Environment

This role is based in a mulch manufacturing facility where conditions can be dirty and hot, both indoors and outdoors. Physical tasks may require the use of fall protection equipment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pageland, South Carolina.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
