    BAE Systems, Inc. is looking for an experienced and dynamic professional to join us as the Manager of Functional, Leadership & Change Communications. In this role, you'll be responsible for developing and delivering communication strategies that support business priorities, equip leaders to engage effectively with their teams, and drive employee understanding and adoption of change. Reporting to the director of Employee Communications and Engagement, this leader will partner closely with functional leaders, executives, and transformation teams to craft clear, consistent, and compelling communications that connect employees to company strategy, priorities, and culture.

    Key Responsibilities

    + Primary delegate of authority for director, Employee Communications and Engagement.

    + Lead, mentor, and develop a team of communications and engagement professionals, providing coaching, guidance, and growth opportunities; foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability within the team.

    + Serve as a communications advisor to functional leaders to help translate enterprise strategies and initiatives into clear, actionable messages for employees.

    + Develop communication plans, toolkits, and campaigns that support functional priorities while aligning with enterprise messaging.

    + Create engaging content tailored for multiple channels (intranet, newsletters, leadership messaging, digital platforms, town halls, etc.).

    + Provide strategic communications support to senior leaders, including CEO, helping them communicate vision, strategy, and progress with authenticity and impact.

    + Craft and edit leadership messages, presentations, and talking points.

    + Coach and advise leaders on effective communication styles and storytelling.

    + Plan and manage employee and leadership events such as town halls and enterprise-wide updates, including content development, leader preparation, logistics coordination, and post-event feedback to ensure engaging and impactful experiences.

    + Partner with Employee Engagement and Channels team to amplify leadership messages across channels.

    + Develop and execute communications strategies to support organizational change initiatives, including technology rollouts, process improvements, and cultural transformations.

    + Collaborate with change management, HR, and project teams to anticipate employee concerns, build understanding, and accelerate adoption.

    + Ensure change communication efforts are timely, transparent, and aligned to organizational values.

    + Track and analyze communication effectiveness using engagement metrics, surveys, and feedback mechanisms.

    + Translate data into insights and recommendations for leaders, project, and change teams.

    + Partner with colleagues across Communications to ensure consistency of voice, brand, and alignment of messaging.

    + Evaluate and introduce new tools, technologies, and ways of working to improve communication effectiveness.

    Required Education, Experience, & Skills

     

    Bachelor s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field with 10 years experience (8 years with advanced degree)

     

    + Experience in employee engagement, internal communications, leadership communications, or change management communications with at least 3 years of people leadership experience.

    + Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with ability to simplify complex concepts.

    + Experience partnering with senior leaders and executives, including the C-suite, on strategic communications.

    + Proven track record managing communications for large-scale change or transformation initiatives.

    + Ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.

    + Ability to think strategically, balancing long-term vision with day-to-day execution.

    + Measurement and insights expertise with the ability to translate data into key insights and learnings.

    + Proven experience managing digital platforms and channels (e.g. intranet, Microsoft 365, Slack/Teams, SharePoint).

    Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

    + AP Style guru.

    + Visual storyteller with experience developing print materials, digital signage, presentations, infographics, etc.

    + Change management certification (ProSci or other).

    + Strong collaboration and influencing skills.

    + Comfortable working in complex, matrixed organizations.

    + Strategic thinker who can translate business goals into communication outcomes.

    + Highly organized with strong project management skills.

    + Previous experience in the aerospace, defense, or technology industries.

    + Advanced degree in Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.

     

    Pay Information

     

    Full-Time Salary Range: $132000 - $224400

     

    Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
