PRIMARY FUNCTION:

This position is responsible for the supervision of required activities and personnel in the receiving, casting shed, stockperson, and material handling functions within the Machine Shop.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

+ Assign, direct, and observe the daily work and activities of personnel involved with receiving, material handling, stockroom, and casting shed per fulfillment needs.

+ Assure that the established policies, rules and regulations, procedures and the Collective Bargaining Agreement are followed.

+ Minimize disruptions to flow within operations; create standard work for what to do when flow is disrupted, resolve or escalate to get timely resolution as needed.

+ Monitor and track daily performance metrics on value stream board, including safety, quality, delivery and cost.

+ Assure that machinery, equipment, and facilities are properly maintained for efficient production.

+ Ensure an adequate supply of perishable items are available to maintain manufacturing schedules.

+ Responsible for sustainment of overall continuous improvement strategy for material storage optimization, PFEP, and material flow.

+ Effectively produce written documents such as production reports or procedures/ work instructions when necessary

+ Assist in the oversight and management of material handling (tugger) route.

+ Sustainment of Kanban system.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

+ Bachelor’s Degree preferred with 2 years in a supervisory or manufacturing technical support role (e.g. Value Stream Manager, Manufacturing Services), OR

+ Associate’s Degree in a technical/related field with 5 years related manufacturing supervisory or lead role, OR

+ High School Diploma or equivalent and 8 years in a manufacturing supervisory or leadership role.

OTHER SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

+ Certain positions with IDEX Corporation and its business units require access to controlled goods and technologies subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations or the Export Administration Regulations. + Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

+ Experience in Process Improvement, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or Kaizen.

+ Ability to collect, analyze, and make decisions using business metrics and data.

+ Experience in a manufacturing or warehouse setting.

+ Must be customer focused and know about internal and external customer relationships.

+ Must have excellent interpersonal skills and have ability to influence without direct authority.

+ Self-motivated, with good organizational skills and be able to handle multiple tasks.

+ Must work well in a team environment, experience working within a union environment a plus.

+ Must have good written and oral communication skills.
