    As the Lead Cook, you’ll be at the heart of our Dining Services team, working closely with the Executive Chef and Director of Dining Services to deliver delicious, high-quality meals that make a difference in the lives of our residents. This isn’t just a job—it’s a leadership opportunity where your culinary expertise, attention to detail, and passion for service come together to create a warm, welcoming dining experience. From overseeing kitchen operations to ensuring top-notch sanitation and inspiring your team, you’ll help set the tone for excellence in every dish served.

    Essential Responsibilities:

    + Prepare large quantities of food using standardized recipes, adhering to production schedules and sanitation standards.

    + Collaborate with the Dining Services Director and Sous Chef Manager to review, adjust, and complete inventory; ensure adequate supplies are available.

    + Promote a positive and respectful work environment, encouraging teamwork and courteous interactions with residents, families, and staff.

    + Supervise and support kitchen staff through coaching, counseling, development, and performance management.

    + Assist with employee evaluations and disciplinary actions as needed.

    + Exercise sound judgment in problem-solving and implementing operational improvements.

    + Maintain cleanliness, safety, and order in all dietary service areas; conduct regular inspections.

    + Ensure proper food preparation, service, and storage practices are followed.

    + Provide hands-on leadership across all areas of food operations.

    + Lead and guide team members in preparing and serving high-quality meals.

    + Support a collaborative culture across all divisions within the organization.

    + Schedule and oversee cleaning duties in accordance with policies and procedures.

    + Ensure readiness of food and supplies for upcoming meals; assist with receiving and storing deliveries.

    + Participate in required training, in-service sessions, and educational programs.

    + Report occupational exposures to hazardous materials per community policies.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    + **Education:** High School diploma or equivalent.

    + **Experience:** 5–7 years in a high-volume, hands-on production kitchen; experience in inventory management required.

    + **Certification:** Must hold a valid food safety certification (ServSafe Food Handler or ServSafe Manager).

    + **Skills & Abilities:**

    + Strong verbal and written communication skills.

    + Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

    + Proven leadership and supervisory skills.

    + Adaptability in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.

    + High level of personal accountability and decision-making ability.

    + Ability to plan, organize, and implement programs and procedures effectively.
