HR Business Partner – Employee Relations & Compliance (Multifamily Real Estate)Location:Michigan (Local & Overnight Travel ~15%)Employment Type:Full-Time
We are seeking a strategic and experiencedHR Business Partnerto serve as the dedicated HR advisor for ourMultifamily Real Estateoperations team. This role is the central point of contact for all HR matters within the multifamily group, with a specialized focus onemployee relations,HR compliance, andpolicy leadership. The ideal candidate will not only bring deep HR expertise but also demonstrate a strong commitment to learning the multifamily business to support workforce planning, talent strategy, and operational alignment.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Act as the primary HR advisor to the multifamily operations team, providing strategic guidance on all HR-related matters
+ Lead and manage complex employee relations issues, investigations, and conflict resolution with consistency and legal compliance
+ Own the development, interpretation, and implementation of HR policies and procedures across the multifamily group
+ Serve as the subject matter expert in HR compliance, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws
+ Partner with operations leaders to understand business needs and translate them into effective workforce planning and recruiting strategies
+ Collaborate with Talent Acquisition and other HR functions to ensure alignment with hiring goals and organizational growth
+ Deliver coaching to managers and HR colleagues on employee relations, compliance, and policy application
+ Travel locally throughout Michigan to support multifamily sites and attend key meetings; occasional overnight travel (~15%)
Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
+ 5+ years of progressive HR experience, with a strong emphasis on employee relations and compliance
+ Proven ability to build trust and influence senior leaders as a strategic business partner
+ Strong understanding of employment law and HR policy frameworks
+ Ability and willingness to learn the multifamily real estate business to better support operational goals
+ Excellent communication, analytical, and conflict-resolution skills
+ Willingness to travel locally and overnight as needed (approximately 15%)
