    Job Summary

    Supports the C4I Program by providing Government Furnished Information (GFI) development of DS systems for further development of US Navy SIDs (Ship Installation Drawings) by Norfolk Naval Shipyard Engineering group, to facilitate system installation on US Navy Aircraft Carriers in RCOH and New Construction phases. DS systems include primarily CANES (Consolidated Afloat Networks and Enterprise Services). CANES is the Navy's POR (Program of Record) to provide afloat network capability with the necessary hardware, software, and enterprise services infrastructure for the Unclassified, Coalition, Secret and SCI enclaves to a wide variety of Navy surface combatants, submarines, and Maritime Operations Centers.

     

    Responsibilities and Duties

     

    Familiar with US Navy shipyard drawing standards and formats. Tasking will include taking system IRDs (Installation Requirements Drawings) and develop them into GFI products including, BWDs (Block Wiring Diagrams) considering all connected and hosted systems including C4I, IWS, NAVAIR, DCGS-N, CANES Video Distribution System, VIDS, LMMT, SSDS (NAVSEA IWO), ADMACS, ADNS, GPNTS, LINK-11/16, C2PS, SMQ-11, AIS, TMPC, etc. , O&Is (Outline & Installations), LOMs (List of Materials), LOCs (List of Connections), CANES Network Drop-list development and management, contact various Navy organizations outside of C4I to ensure latest technical requirements of interfacing systems are accounted for and added to GFI products (drawings, network drop lists, connection diagrams) Review existing planning Yard SIDs, define resolution to SID redlines, write eLARs (Liaison Action Requests) to document engineering changes and shipyard changes, document changes to ship configuration based on LAR approvals, and ship installation changes. Must be able to generate, edit, proof, and distribute program documentation to include program plans, status reports, and technical documentation. Ability to participate in ship-check at Newport News or Norfolk Naval Shipyard in VA, and Program Management Reviews in Charleston, SC if required. Expected travel less than 5%. Non-DS C4I systems GFI development may be required in this position as well.

     

    Qualifications and Skills

     

    Required knowledge and years of experience

     

    Must have at least fifteen (15) years of experience with CANES shipboard C4I systems, architecture, interfaces and interdependencies, installation, integration and testing. Must have military experience is a plus but not a requirement. Must have excellent computer skills, including the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel). Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.

    Education Requirements

    High School Diploma - Prior experience with C4I systems, CANES in particular, as well as Military background, is a plus but not required.
