We are seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer who will specialize in the design and layout of material handling systems. This role involves creating new systems, developing installation drawings, and working closely with vendors and project managers to ensure seamless project execution.
Responsibilities
+ Design and layout material handling systems using AutoCAD in both 2D and 3D formats.
+ Create and develop installation drawings and details for new systems.
+ Assess and design compressed air needs and piping drawings.
+ Collaborate with vendors to design, order materials, and ensure timely delivery.
+ Work alongside project managers to manage installations, addressing any design-related queries.
+ Engage with partners, including controls and electrical engineers, to ensure comprehensive project development.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in designing conveyor systems using AutoCAD (2D and 3D).
+ At least 5 years of experience in the material handling industry.
+ Strong understanding of conveyor systems and material-handling equipment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree in an engineering-related field.
+ Experience with sortation systems and piping design.
Work Environment
This position is based onsite five days a week, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The company comprises about 26 employees in New Jersey, working across various departments including mechanical engineering, project management, service, sales, and accounting. The larger parent company, located in Kentucky, handles electrical and controls work and employs around 150 people. Travel is expected approximately 20% of the time, particularly at the start of each project for site visits and during installations. Travel can last from 1 to 3 days and will occur anywhere in the U.S.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of South Plainfield, New Jersey.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $55.29 - $57.69/hr.
