Job Title: Advanced Practice ProviderJob Description
We are seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our Pediatric/Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (ICU) team. Our unit is renowned for handling complex surgical cases, including heart transplants, for patients ranging from neonatal to 25 years of age, with the majority being under 5 years old. We are expanding our team to better serve our patients and support our dedicated medical staff.
Responsibilities
+ Manage approximately six patients daily, focusing on pre- and post-operative management of complex surgical cases.
+ Attend morning huddles with medical teams, including surgeons, intensivists, and cardiologists, to determine daily and nightly coverage.
+ Develop and review care plans with Attending Physicians and execute on these plans.
+ Handle some line placements and/or sedations as required, with no operating room expectations.
+ Ensure high standards of patient care and contribute to the overall success of the unit.
Essential Skills
+ 2+ years of experience in Cardiac PICU preferred, but experience in PICU, PEDs, or ICU is acceptable.
+ Nurse Practitioners must have Pediatric Acute Care Certification, BSN, RN license, MSN or DNP, AHA BLS and PALS certifications, and DEA license.
+ Physician Assistants must have a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Pediatrics, BS degree, Masters in PA and PANCE, AHA BLS and PALS certifications, and DEA license.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Ability to work a combination of day, night, and weekend shifts.
+ Open to candidates who prefer working all nights or all weekends.
+ Strong ability to handle high-stress environments with elevated expectations.
+ Commitment to continuous professional development and education.
Work Environment
Our work environment is dynamic and challenging, serving complex surgical cases in a high-stress setting. Our team includes one of the top surgeons in the world, known for innovative procedures. APPs work 14 shifts per month, with 70% being nights/weekends, and are supported by in-house Attending Physicians 24/7. The unit maintains a 1:6 APP-Patient ratio and offers a collaborative and supportive atmosphere for its staff.

This is a Permanent position based out of Durham, North Carolina.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $130000.00 - $170000.00/yr.
