Must Have
+ Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Technology, or related science.
+ Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT), Medical Lab Scientist (MLS), or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) from ASCP, NCA, AMT, or AAB.
+ Experience in a hospital or clinical laboratory setting.
+ Proficiency in areas such as hematology, clinical chemistry, coagulation, urinalysis, and/or microscopy.
+ Blood Bank experience is highly preferred.
+ Proficient with computers and laboratory information systems.
+ Experience with Blood Bank operations is required for the 3rd shift and preferred for the 2nd shift.
+ Coachable with the ability to take and apply feedback effectively.
+ Proven reliability and positive attendance record.
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our dynamic inpatient lab team. As a key member of the laboratory, you will play a crucial role in preparing patient samples for testing, determining the acceptability of specimens, and performing a wide range of laboratory tests using advanced techniques.
Responsibilities
+ Prepare patient samples for testing and assess the acceptability of specimens and results.
+ Perform Hematology, Chemistry, and Urinalysis testing.
+ Conduct laboratory tests and procedures using techniques such as ELISA, RNA extraction, and flow cytometry.
+ Execute manual, semi-automated, and automated Biochemical, Hematological, Microbiological, and Blood Bank analyses.
+ Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments to ensure proper functionality.
+ Accurately prepare, label, and store reagents, standards, controls, and specimens.
+ Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care.
+ Participate in quality assurance and improvement activities.
+ Recognize and take appropriate action for normal, abnormal, unusual, and critical results as per lab policy.
+ Verify the accuracy of results and initiate corrective action when necessary.
Work Environment
This position is based in a large hospital lab, which serves as the central lab for all inpatient samples. The lab environment is fast-paced and high-throughput. The schedule includes two shifts: a 2nd shift from Monday to Friday, 1:00 PM to 9:30 PM, and a 3rd shift with a rotating schedule from 9:00 PM to 7:30 AM. Blood Bank experience is preferred for the 2nd shift and required for the 3rd shift. Initial contracts are for three months, with potential extensions based on business needs and performance.

This is a Contract position based out of Portland, Oregon.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $47.40/hr.
