    The University of Maine at Augusta (UMA) seeks qualified applicants for the position of a full time, renewable/continuing Lecturer of Cybersecurity (https://www.uma.edu/academics/programs/cybersecurity/) . The successful candidate will teach and develop courses in cybersecurity and related disciplines, with a strong emphasis on CompTIA-aligned instruction (A+, Network+, Security+, CySA+) to support workforce development, Industrial Control Systems (ICS)/Operational Technology (OT)/SCADA security, and hands-on cyber range integration using SimSpace and Immersive Labs. This is a nine-month (September through May) academic year appointment. The anticipated start date is January 1, 2026.

     

    While this position is based at the University of Maine Augusta, qualified candidates with exceptional experience may be considered to work remote. Remote faculty must be available to teach live, synchronous online classes.

    As a full-time faculty member, you will be expected to:

    + Teach a minimum of four courses per semester in cybersecurity, information security, and related areas.

    + Design, deliver, and continuously improve competency-based and self-paced courses that align with CompTIA certification objectives and NICE/NIST Cybersecurity Workforce Framework roles.

    + Incorporate cyber range content (SimSpace, Immersive Labs, and related platforms) into coursework to enhance experiential learning and technical proficiency.

    + Integrate ICS/OT/SCADA cybersecurity scenarios into teaching to prepare students for roles protecting critical infrastructure sectors such as energy, water, and manufacturing.

    + Actively support cybersecurity and critical infrastructure workforce development initiatives, including NIST RAMPS and CAE-CD-aligned efforts.

    + Participate in curriculum development, program assessment, and articulation of academic pathways from K-12, community colleges, and workforce partners.

    + Utilize D2L Brightspace as the primary learning management system for course delivery and student engagement.

    + Advise and mentor cybersecurity students, supporting both traditional and adult learners.

    + Collaborate with industry, education, and government partners to expand internship, apprenticeship, and employment opportunities for UMA students.

    + Contribute to departmental service, including outreach, recruiting, and professional development events.

    Qualifications

    Required:

    + Master’s Degree or higher in CIS or Cybersecurity or related field

    + 2-3 years’ experience teaching CompTIA content in Security+, Network+, CySA+

    + 2-3 years’ experience working with cyber range platforms (e.g. SimSpace, Immersive Labs, Cyberbit) and incorporating cyber range content into courses to provide hands on training.

    + Experience with Industrial Control Systems (ICS)/Operational Technology (OT)/SCADA security

    + Experience with NICE/NIST workforce frameworks, CAE-CD knowledge units, and critical infrastructure cybersecurity curriculum alignment.

    Preferred:

    + 2-3 years prior college level teaching experience, using new technologies in teaching.

    + Experience with digital learning management systems such as Brightspace.

    + One year or more of related work experience in discipline.

    + Experience writing grants

    + Experience working with diverse student populations including non-traditional students.

    + Familiarity with Maine’s critical infrastructure sectors and local workforce needs.

    Salary: Salary is commensurate with qualifications and previous experience, in accordance with the AFUM contract. Normal hiring range is in the low to mid $60,000.
