Job Title: Printing Press Operator Apprentice

Job Description

A Printing Press Operator with programming expertise is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining printing machines. This role combines traditional press operation with modern digital and programmable technologies, optimizing print quality, efficiency, and automation. The operator will manage the folder, stitcher, perfect binder, and other smaller machines, as well as program and set up 4-5 learned machines. Comprehensive training on interfaces and software systems will be provided.

Responsibilities

+ Set up and adjust printing press for each job.

+ Load paper, ink, and other materials into the press.

+ Program and adjust press settings using digital interfaces or PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers).

+ Monitor print runs for quality and consistency.

+ Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting.

+ Follow safety and quality control procedures.

+ Collaborate with prepress and finishing teams.

Essential Skills

+ Manufacturing experience.

+ Mechanical inclination.

+ Tape measure/ruler experience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Ability to follow and read tickets.

+ Capability to work with a small team and train others.

+ Understand tape measure and ruler.

+ Bindery, printing press, and printing knowledge.

+ Mechanical aptitude.

+ Experience with hand and power tools, programming, offset printing, digital printing, and lamination.

+ Multitasking, forklift operation, RF scanner use, and inventory management.

Work Environment

The work shift is from 12 to 10 PM, on the 2nd Shift shift. The workspace is a nice, clean warehouse with mostly new equipment and racks.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Loves Park, Illinois.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $28.00/hr.
