Job Title: Machine Operator Material Handler
Job Description
The Machine Operator is responsible for the safe and productive operation of machines, including the Granulator, Shredder, Color System, Wet Sorter System, and Extruder. This role also involves material handling and maintaining a high-quality product.
Responsibilities
+ Set up, run, shut down, troubleshoot, clean, and perform general maintenance of the machines.
+ Thoroughly clean boxes, lids, and skids before use.
+ Complete the log at the end of each shift passing information along to the supervisor in a timely manner.
+ Keep the work area clean and organized throughout the shift.
+ Compute weights using correct gross, tare, and net figures, and weigh material in boxes and hoppers, recording weights accurately.
+ Load and unload material.
+ Compute pounds per hour processed during the run and compute percentages to document various run conditions and productivity standards.
+ Prepare boxes for material by placing labels in proper locations and/or removing extra labels.
Essential Skills
+ Experience in a manufacturing environment working around machines is preferred.
+ Capacity for making mathematical computations.
+ Experience troubleshooting in a manufacturing environment.
+ Sit-down forklift experience required.
+ Ability to stand for the duration of the shift outside of breaks.
+ Ability to lift up to 65 lbs, not repetitively.
+ Comfort working at heights, as aerial lift use may be required.
+ Possession of steel-toed or composite-toed shoes.
+ Willingness to work mandated Saturdays if business dictates.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Mechanical aptitude and basic math skills.
+ Experience in machine operation, quality check, production, general labor, and material handling.
+ Plastics manufacturing experience, such as in injection molding or extrusion, is advantageous.

Work Environment
The work environment is a traditional manufacturing setting with large systems designed to process and separate plastics materials. It can be dusty and noisy, necessitating hearing and eye protection. The facility may become hot during the summer and is comfortable in the winter. Employees must be willing to climb stairs or use an aerial lift. There is a strict dress code to ensure safety, including requirements for secure clothing and the prohibition of jewelry. No cell phones or smart watches are allowed on the production floor. The shifts offered are 1st Shift (7:30am – 4:00pm), 2nd Shift (3:30pm - 12am), and 3rd Shift (11:30pm – 8:00am).

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, Indiana
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $22.00/hr.
