Description

We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join our team in Rochester, New York. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in overseeing financial operations, including project accounting, accounts receivable, general ledger activities, and accounts payable. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a dynamic and growing construction company with multiple divisions, while driving process improvements and ensuring compliance.

Responsibilities:

• Manage project accounting setup and maintenance across multiple divisions, ensuring accuracy in billing and revenue recognition.

• Prepare and analyze weekly labor and project reports, providing detailed variance analyses.

• Drive automation initiatives for project reporting and internal system workflows.

• Oversee accounts receivable processes, including deposit application, reconciliation, and timely follow-ups on outstanding balances.

• Record and review journal entries related to revenue, labor, and cost components to ensure general ledger integrity.

• Perform monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts and bank accounts.

• Support monthly and quarterly close activities, including generating reports and conducting analytical reviews.

• Assist with audit preparations and maintain documentation for internal controls.

• Provide secondary approval for outgoing payments and help automate accounts payable reporting processes.

• Act as a subject matter expert for workflow optimization and best practices within accounting systems.

Requirements • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a construction or project-based environment.

• Proficiency in month-end close processes, including general ledger management and journal entry preparation.

• Strong skills in account reconciliation and bank reconciliations.

• Experience with project accounting and revenue recognition.

• Ability to analyze financial reports and provide actionable insights.

• Knowledge of accounts receivable and accounts payable processes.

• Familiarity with automation tools and systems for improving financial workflows.

• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
