    Position Title: Solutions Engineer

     

    Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 40 Hours/ Week

     

    Summary of Duties: The Solutions Engineer will be responsible for supporting customers, development of automation, control and supervision systems for generation, transmission, distribution, and industrial plants including Siemens automation portfolio like SICAM (SCC, PAS, A8000, TOOLBOX, DEVICE MANAGER, 230, 1703), RUGGEDCOM, SIPROTEC 4/5 and REYROLLE product line. Support Customers internally and external with SICAM and SIPROTEC lines. Conduct system development based on schematics drawings, signal list and further documentation; new applications using IEC61850 communication protocol (MMS, GOOSE, Process bus); Network topology using redundancy protocols (PRP, HSR, RSTP); time synchronization protocols (PTP, SNTP); Automation systems with cybersecurity, ANSI, and IEC standards. Develop supervisory system for energy automation system using SICAM SCC and 230 product line. Conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) of the energy automation systems Siemens automation portfolio like SICAM, RUGGEDCOM, SIPROTEC and REYROLLE product line. Commission automation and control systems for power substations, using the SICAM and SIPROTEC line. Develop automation logics customized to the customer's application, using SICAM line engineering software such as TOOLBOX, DEVICE MANAGER and DIGSI. Develop system templates for SICAM and SIPROTEC to optimize labor hours from development and test of energy automation systems. Troubleshoot for SICAM and SIPROTEC energy automation system: technical support and analysis for internal and external customers; system debugging using engineering tools like DIGSI 4/5 and SICAM TOOLBOX; Communication protocols simulators (SICAM PROTOCOL TEST SYSTEM), SIPROTEC digital Twin for protection relays emulation. Provide product and application support to Customers (SICAM A8000; SICAM PAS; SIPROTEC relays). Configure, test and commissioning of SICAM Line, SIPROTEC relays. Development of application and configuration notes, work instructions for SICAM line, and SIPROTEC relays. Approximately 50% domestic travel required. Hybrid remote work permitted.

     

    Qualifications: The position requires a Bachelor’s in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or a related field of study and 3 years of experience in the job offered or as an Application Engineer, Systems Development Engineer, or a related role. The position requires experience with the following: experience with Siemens software packages SICAM PAS, SICAM SCC, SICAM A8000 device manager, DIGSI 5 software for relay configuration; experience with programming languages: C++, Python, VB; experience with communication protocols IEC61850; Modbus, DNP3.0; Profibus; and experience with Process Bus technology. Skills and experience can be gained pre- or post-Bachelor’s degree.
