Part-time in-person teaching (3 hours of lecture, 3 hours of laboratory for geochemistry; additional time for general chemistry lab if necessary). Student consultation hours as defined by the CBA .
Position Summary Information
Position Summary
Slippery Rock University invites applications for a one-semester temporary position in the Department of Chemistry and Environmental Geosciences beginning January 2026. We are seeking a broadly trained geologist, environmental scientist, or chemist to teach undergraduate geochemistry (lecture and laboratory). There is a possibility that the position may be expanded to include teaching general chemistry laboratories depending on student enrollment.
It is expected that the successful candidate will have a commitment to the education of a diverse population and actively participate in the department. Beyond teaching, all faculty are expected to participate in scholarly growth and professional development and service. Faculty members are also required to hold student consultation in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement. For Spring 2026, the position will be 100% in person.
Minimum Qualifications
Masters degree in geology, geoscience, geochemistry, chemistry (analytical or environmental), or a related discipline required. A commitment to the education of diverse populations and the successful performance in an interview are required.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience teaching geochemistry or environmental chemistry at the undergraduate level. PhD in geology, geoscience, geochemistry, chemistry (analytical or environmental) or related discipline preferred.
