We’re seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounting Technician to support payroll operations for a dynamic organization that serves multiple departments and programs—from healthcare and housing to education and law enforcement. Position: Accounting Technician (Payroll-Focused)
Type: 12-month contract-to-hire
Schedule: Full-time or part-time (24–40 hours/week)
Pay: $22.29 to $26.75/hour, based on experience and system proficiency
What You’ll Do
+ Process bi-weekly payroll for ~324 employees using Paylocity
+ Review and verify timecards, approvals, and personnel action notices (PANS)
+ Coordinate with HR on garnishments, direct deposit changes, and 401(k) contributions
+ Add and manage payroll codes tied to grants and funding sources
+ Run supplemental batches for stipends and committees
+ Assist with payroll reconciliation and deduction audits
+ Support document tracking and reporting for compliance and reimbursement
+ Collaborate with accounting and HR teams to ensure smooth operations
What We’re Looking For
+ Experience processing payroll for 50+ employees (100+ preferred)
+ Familiarity with Paylocity, ADP, Paycom, or similar systems
+ Understanding of payroll workflows, deductions, and compliance
+ Basic to intermediate Excel skills (SUM, IF, formatting, organization)
+ Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
+ Willingness to learn and grow into broader accounting responsibilities
+ Bonus: Experience in government, nonprofit, or grant-funded environments
Education
+ No formal degree required, but practical payroll experience is essential
+ Candidates with accounting degrees and interest in payroll are encouraged to apply

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.29 - $26.75/hr.
