    **Shift:** Monday – Friday 7:30 to 5:00

    **Pay Rate:** Career Level (Hourly 7) $19 - $26.75 based on experience.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    This job plays a vital role in Plant Safety. Must have knowledge of our safety policies and programs. Works closely with the Safety Manager to make sure Burke is in compliance with Hormel Safety Programs and with OSHA regulations. Hold monthly safety task force meetings and works with its members to ensure the completion of the departmental safety requirements. Actively leads/participates in near miss investigations and safety task force meetings. Ensures compliance with OSHA regulations, our safe working incentive program, and creative use of SAM (Safety Alert Message). Prepares locks for new hires and replacement, responsible for quarterly lockout tagout training paperwork that is given to Supervisors.

     

    Updates SOP and LOTO procedures. Tracks huddle meeting attendance and safety suggestions. Conduct audits, inspections and coordinate resolution of issues and elimination of unsafe conditions and ensure equipment is operating safely. Conduct daily floor walks to monitor project progress and verify completion of work orders.

     

    Enter new employee information in training database, verify PPE and safety training needs per department and work with Safety Manager to ensure injuries are addressed quickly. Issues LOTO locks and monitors training records. Facilitates safety orientation if Safety Manager is absent.

     

    Files all employee safety training paperwork generated. Updates internal training records for all safety programs. Works closely with HR professionals to ensure employees receive the requisite safety training on a timely basis.

     

    Updates Safety and Electronic Injury boards for companywide communications.

     

    Will be required to work with and develop equipment and ideas deemed to be confidential information and/or trade secrets owned by the company. This person will be required to protect the company's rights in and ownership of those trade secrets and confidential information.

     

    Maintains strict confidentiality and complies with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) requirements.

     

    Support a flexible scheduling approach when circumstances demand.

    QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

    18 years or older

    6 months of work history

     

    Computer skills: Word, Excel, Power Point, One Note

     

    Attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to meet deadlines as required

     

    Self-motivated and able to work effectively with limited supervision

     

    Strong communication skills

     

    Valid driver’s license

     

    May require some weekend work

    QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:

    Bi-lingual is preferred

     

    Experience with AED/BBP/CPR/First Aid programs is preferred
