Position Summary
The **Senior Director,** **Site Enablement Leader, Oncology** is accountable for driving optimal site performance and operational excellence across Oncology USA clinical trial delivery. This role blends strategic execution with country-level operational leadership to ensure high-performing sites that conform to J&J IM Oncology Research & Development (R&D) and Medical Affairs (MAF) priorities and regulatory requirements. The Site Enablement Leader fosters long-term, trust-based relationships with investigational sites, shapes the external clinical trial environment, and leads initiatives that significantly improve oncology site selection, contracting, activation, performance, and experience.
This leader will champion operational excellence, and organizational transformation, building high-performing, outcome focused teams; fostering strategic partnerships to advance the company’s mission and deliver impactful results for patients and stakeholders.
Reporting to the Vice President, Strategy & Clinical Delivery Operations, and serving on the Oncology Delivery Unit (DU) extended leadership team, this leader drives cross-functional collaboration to optimize USA oncology site experience and trial performance.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Site Engagement
+ Develop and execute long-term strategies for site engagement aligned with J&J IM Oncology goals.
+ Identify, segment, and manage Strategic Sites to optimize their experience, and trial delivery.
+ Lead the development of site experience plans, including objectives, tactics, and performance metrics.
Operational Excellence
+ Oversee site operational performance across all trial phases (feasibility to close-out), ensuring compliance with ICH-GCP, SOPs, and local regulations.
+ Define and manage the key performance indicators that enable visibility to and improvement of site activation times across the USA Oncology portfolio.
+ Lead operational issue escalation and resolution processes.
+ Collaborate with internal teams to adapt processes that enhance site experience.
Leadership & People Development
+ Provide strategic direction and mentorship to internal teams supporting site operations.
+ Contribute to talent development, succession planning, and organizational design to meet evolving business needs.
+ Foster an outcome focused culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and Credo-based leadership.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
+ Serve as a key liaison between sites and internal stakeholders within the Oncology DU, Medical Affairs DU, Integrated Data Analytics & Reporting (IDAR), Quality, and Global Clinical Operations (GCO).
+ Communicate site insights and feedback to inform strategy and operational improvements.
+ Align site engagement strategies with broader J&J IM Research & Development, Medical Affairs and Global Development initiatives.
Principal Relationships:
Internal: Oncology and MAF DU Leaders, Portfolio Engagement, Feasibility, Patient Site Engagement, Portfolio Delivery Leaders, Trial Management, R&D Oncology CDTLs and Clinical Leaders, US and Global MAF Leadership, GCO North America Leadership, Business Growth, Innovation & Advocacy (BGIA); in particular Partnerships, Clinical Supply Chain.
External: Investigational sites, Key Opinion Leaders, Global Development One Delivery Model Strategic Partners, Vendors with a focus on study placement or recruiting and retention capabilities.
Education and Experience:
+ Bachelor’s degree with scientific or health-related discipline is required, MBA or Master’s degree preferred.
+ A minimum of 12 years of relevant experience required, J&J Black Belt certification preferred.
+ Proven experience in leading cross-functional teams and managing external partnerships.
+ Strong understanding of clinical trial regulations, site operations, and healthcare market dynamics. Deep knowledge of site selection, contracting, activation and trial operations in the US regulatory and clinical landscape.
+ Demonstrated experience and leadership managing and executing on clinical trial operations from start-up to close-out.
+ Strong track record of optimizing site performance in clinical research, ideally in Oncology
+ Skilled in developing and executing long-term strategies for site enablement and performance including identifying, segmenting and managing strategic sites to improve trial delivery.
+ Adept at building long-term, trust-based partnerships with investigations sites, investigators and trial staff
+ Highly collaborative leader who is able to influence without authority. Experience in managing a large team that successfully accelerated USA site activations is preferred.
+ Strategic mindset with ability to guide development of a coherent and compelling strategy
+ Independent thinker with proven ability to introduce new ideas for consideration and implementation.
+ Evaluates and looks for new ideas from outside of J&J IM.
+ Prior experience and a proven track record of success in ambiguous and complex environments, and of leading through change. Experience of building a new discipline within an existing organization is preferred.
+ Excellent presentation and negotiation skills are required.
+ Strong leadership capability and ability to lead in a credo-based, ethical manner is required.

The expected base pay for this role in the US is: $193,000 to $333,500.
