Manager, Medical Affairs Agreements & Compliance, COCE
The Manager, Medical Affairs Agreements & Compliance, Center of Contracting Excellence (COCE) position will serve as a strategic partner and collaborative leader in the contracting lifecycle. Operating under the Dynamic Shared Ownership model, the incumbent will co-own processes, empower cross-functional teams, and drive operational excellence in a fast-paced, evolving environment. The incumbent will play a key role in enabling compliant, efficient, and innovative contracting solutions that support Medical Affairs initiatives across therapeutic areas.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role, Manager, Medical Affairs Agreements & Compliance, COCE, are to:
Contracting Leadership & Execution:
+ Co-lead the end-to-end contracting process for diverse agreement types, including investigator-initiated studies, health economics research, HCP engagements, and vendor/agency contracts;
+ Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate contract submissions, tracking, and completion within Bayer systems;
+ Implement Quality Controls for Vendor Oversight Monitoring;
+ Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, and Procurement to ensure contracts meet regulatory and ethical standards.
Shared Problem-Solving & Escalation Management:
+ Proactively identify and resolve contracting and payment issues through transparent escalation pathways and cross-functional collaboration;
+ Facilitate team-led conflict resolution and adaptive decision-making under time-sensitive conditions;
+ Monitor resolution trends and contribute to continuous process improvement initiatives.
Innovation & Continuous Learning:
+ Champion a culture of experimentation and learning by exploring new tools, technologies, and approaches to streamline contracting operations;
+ Share insights and lessons learned across teams to foster collective growth and innovation;
Stakeholder Engagement & Enablement:
+ Build strong, trust-based relationships with internal teams, external partners, and outsourcing vendors;
+ Provide guidance and training to team members on contracting systems, processes, and compliance requirements;
+ Actively contribute to a collaborative, inclusive team culture that values diverse perspectives and shared accountability.
WHO YOU ARE
Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
Required Qualifications:
Core Skills:
+ Strong understanding of end-to-end contract management, including drafting, negotiation, execution, and compliance monitoring;
+ Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks, internal governance policies, and ethical standards in the pharmaceutical industry;
+ Skilled in working cross-functionally with Legal, Procurement, Finance, and Medical Affairs teams to ensure contract accuracy and alignment;
+ Comfortable navigating ambiguity and shifting priorities in a dynamic, demanding environment;
+ Strong interpersonal skill to build trust-based relationships with internal teams and external partner;.
+ Commitment to personal development and team-wide learning initiatives that enhance process efficiency and compliance.
Technical Proficiency:
+ Proficiency in contract management systems (CLMS, Ariba, SAP, SmartBuy or similar platforms);
+ Experience with systems used for HCP engagement and compliance documentation;
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
Other:
+ Experience in contract management;
+ Strong understanding of compliance, legal, and regulatory frameworks;
+ Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills;
+ Proven ability to thrive in dynamic, demanding environments with multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Associate degree or experience related field preferred;
+ 5+ years of experience in contract management, preferably in pharmaceutical or healthcare settings.
Employees can expect to be paid a salary of between $ 107,100 to $160,720. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc.. This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
