The Opportunity
This position works out of our Abbott Park IL facility.
What You’ll Work On
The Senior Specialist, Wellness and Benefits plays a key role in supporting Abbott’s employee well-being strategy. This position focuses on designing, implementing, and coordinating wellness programs that promote mental, physical, and emotional health across the organization. The role requires strong project management, vendor coordination, and strategic thinking to deliver impactful wellness solutions that align with Abbott’s benefits offerings and culture of well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Lead the development and execution of wellness initiatives that support behavior change, reduce health risks, and improve overall employee well-being.
+ Project manage wellness programs, including planning, budgeting, resource coordination, and communication campaigns.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to foster engagement in wellness resources and benefits.
+ Oversee vendor relationships for wellness programs, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and high-quality service delivery.
+ Lead and coordinate the Wellness Champions network, providing guidance, resources, and support to amplify wellness messaging and drive grassroots engagement.
+ Collect, analyze, and interpret wellness data and employee feedback to recommend program improvements and measure impact.
+ Coordinate wellness campaigns and events that promote healthy lifestyle choices and increase awareness of available resources.
+ Support the integration of wellness with broader benefits education and employee engagement strategies.
+ Manage the Lake County Fitness Center and Sports and Activities as part of the overall wellness strategy, ensuring operations align with wellness goals and support employee participation.
Reports to: Sr. Manager, Benefits
Interacts with: All grade levels and positions across Abbott
Scope: Supports US-wide wellness initiatives and onsite wellness facilities in Lake County
Required Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Health Promotion, Fitness, or a related field.
+ 5-7 years of experience in wellness program coordination, employee benefits, or health promotion.
+ Demonstrated ability to manage projects, vendors, and cross-functional teams.
+ Experience with budgeting, vendor selection, and RFP processes to support wellness and benefits initiatives.
+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse employee populations.
+ Experience analyzing data and applying insights to improve program outcomes.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and wellness-related platforms or tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Two or more years in a fitness management position
+ CPR/AED certification
+ Mental Health First Aid Certification
+ Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES)
+ Certified Wellness Practitioner (CWP)
+ Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS)
+ SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP
+ Project Management Professional (PMP)

The base pay for this position is $75,300.00 – $150,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
