    The Boeing Global Services (BGS) Commercial Flight Training Learning Design Team is seeking a **Senior** **Technical Writer and Editor** to support our team in **Seattle, WA** .

     

    Our team maintains flight training materials for all commercial programs. We align published content to evolving requirements from engineering, regulators, airspace, and customer need.

     

    Make a global difference in aviation safety by developing technical editing systems. Solve substantive problems using advanced tools and build sophisticated technical communication products.

    Position Responsibilities:

    + Collaborate with pilot subject matter experts and instructional systems designers to scope, revise, edit, format, and proofread an array of training materials.

    + Protect the integrity of pilot training manuals by enforcing standards, processes, and branding guidelines.

    + Solve an array of content strategy challenges with your own novel solutions, including cutting-edge artificial intelligence.

    + Devise strategies to tailor courseware for regional requirements.

    + Manage training manual content files to optimize data reuse in a specialized DITA XML publishing system.

    + Coordinate critical stakeholder reviews of materials.

    + Assess the need to obtain clarity and additional information from subject matter experts.

    + Review comments and collaborate with teammates to reconcile conflicting inputs.

    + Conduct reviews for grammar, spelling, bias, adherence to standards, and accuracy.

    + Recommend technical communication project plans.

    + Research and document technical information to improve established processes.

    Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

    + Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication, English, Aviation, Instructional Design, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.

    + At least 9 years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience.

    + At least 3 years of experience working on aviation, aerospace, technology, or safety-critical documentation.

    + Proven ability to enforce editorial standards and quality controls (grammar, spelling, style, bias reduction, and technical accuracy) across multiple documents and stakeholder groups.

    + Experience collaborating with subject matter experts (SMEs) to analyze, scope, and revise learning and training materials.

    + Excellent stakeholder management skills; demonstrated ability to coordinate and drive critical review cycles and reconcile conflicting inputs.

    + Ability to travel occasionally and work with geographically distributed teams as required.

    Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

    + Strong working knowledge of DITA XML, XML-based authoring, or structured content workflows, and experience managing content for reuse in a structured publishing system.

    + Proficiency with modern authoring/editing tools (e.g., Oxygen XML Editor or equivalent) and comfort learning new tools and toolchains.

    + Generative AI applications for technical writing.

    + Familiarity with aviation regulations, industry best practices, and safety-focused quality standards relevant to flight crew training.

    + Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, including the ability to document processes and recommend improvements.

    + Style guides, especially the Chicago Manual of Style.

    + Adobe Creative Cloud applications.

    Senior Level** **S** **ummary Pay Range: $102,850 – $139,150
