    **Exciting Opportunity at MSK:** The Research Specialist will serve as a key contributor within the Mouse Genetics Core Facility, supporting a wide range of experimental and operational activities. This role blends **hands-on benchwork** , **computational data analysis** , and **bioresource inventory management** , with a strong emphasis on **specialized expertise** in areas such as embryology, reproductive biology, and microscopic imaging.

     

    In this area of specialization, the Specialist will train junior staff, assess their skills, guide external users on procedures and instrumentation, and implement new technologies and workflows. The role also includes maintaining regulatory documentation and serving as the primary point person for troubleshooting and optimizing methodologies within the core.

    Role Overview:

    + Conduct and organize experiments in specialized areas such as embryology, reproductive biology, microscopy, image analysis, and bioinformatics.

    + Maintain SOPs, research documentation, and equipment schedules.

    + Analyze data using appropriate software and compile project reports.

    + Communicate results and stay current with relevant scientific literature.

    + Manage bioresource inventory and databases using the existing platforms like such as FileMaker, Smartsheet, and Airtable.

    + Monitor project quality and report performance issues.

    + Train lab personnel and coordinate technical instruction for non-core members.

    + Assist with cost tracking and service billing.

    Key Qualifications:

    + Demonstrated experience in one or more specialty areas: embryology, reproductive biology, cell biology, microscopic imaging, molecular biology, or bioinformatics.

    + Competence in computational data analysis and scientific reporting.

    + Familiarity with bioresource inventory systems and database platforms (e.g., FileMaker, Smartsheet, Airtable); scripting experience is a plus.

    + Commitment to long-term contribution (multi-year preferred due to training depth).

    Core Skills:

    + Ability to independently manage experimental workflows and troubleshoot technical issues.

    + Strong organizational and documentation skills.

    + Willingness to train and support other lab personnel.

    + Schedule: Monday - Friday, 37.5 hours, onsite

    + Location: 430 E. 67th Street, NYC

    + Reporting to: Mouse Genetics Core Facility Head
