    Postdoctoral Associate

    **Required Qualification:** (as evidenced by an attached resume)

     

    Doctoral Degree (or foreign equivalent) in Biomedical Engineering or a closely related field in hand by January 1, 2026. Research focus on developing optical platforms for metabolic characterization of disease models.

    Preferred Qualification:

    Experience in primary cell isolation and culture, 3D organoid culture, molecular skills including RT-PCR, animal skills including tail vein injection and genotyping, and immunofluorescence (IF)/ELISA. Should also have skills in ImageJ image analysis and MATLAB, in addition to lab and project management skills. Should have experience training students and a background in biotechnology.

    Job Description:

    The Postdoctoral Associate will assist the Principal Investigator Dr. Ryan Williams (https://renaissance.stonybrookmedicine.edu/medicine/news\_blog/ryan\_williams\_welcome) in the Department of Medicine-Division of Nephrology & Hypertension (https://renaissance.stonybrookmedicine.edu/medicine/nephrology) . The incumbent will conduct research and ensure that all experiments are appropriately conducted following the policies and procedures of Stony Brook University.

    Specific Duties:

    • Within the predetermined research scope and methodology, conduct research experiments in the field of nanomaterials formulation and testing in vitro and in vivo to treat and diagnose kidney disease.

    • Collect and analyze data, including periodical/literature search and utilizing specialized skills in related field to analyze the collected data.

    • Participate/assist in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or presentations. May also assist in grant writing.

    • Lab maintenance, including equipment maintenance and ordering of supplies as needed.

    • Other duties as assigned, which may include attending Scientific Conferences and Meetings.

    The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
