The Production Manager role is to direct and supervise the manufacturing operations in one or more major departments of the division within established operational instructions, procedures and policies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Plan, direct, and supervise all operations performed in the manufacturing departments assigned to the position in a manner that will ensure optimum results and supports the continuous flow of work between departments as well as the warehouse.
• Ensure adherence to production schedules (time & quantities) as established by Manufacturing Controls.
• Responsible for the quantity and quality of work assigned to the position.
• Establish and maintain well organized and efficient processes, operations, and workflow to ensure the best utilization of labor and/or machine time.
• Administer policies and procedures in a fair, consistent, and non–discriminatory manner.
• Propose changes in operating instructions or general policies to immediate supervisor as required.
• Prepare established and/or creates special reports as needed for management showing accomplishments and other pertinent or requested information.
• Create or revise department instructions and procedures as needed.
• Make certain through proper selection, training, development and placement of department personnel, that all positions are filled by individuals qualified to meet the requirements of their respective assignments.
• Promote cooperation and teamwork throughout the organization and motivates employees to work to the best of their abilities.
• Direct the maintenance of machinery and equipment used in department operations.
• Responsible for implementing personnel procedures.
• Adheres to safe work practices and contributes to the evolution of the health, safety, and environmental program and culture,
• Regular, predictable attendance is required;
• Other duties may be assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
• Directly supervises Autonomous Production Unit Leaders (APUL) and indirectly supervises all other employees under the supervision of the APULs.
Physical Demands
• This position sits and performs computer work for extended periods of time.
• Both standing and walking are required.
• Ability to talk and hear.
Work Environment
• The work environment is an office setting with moderate noise levels.
• Work sometimes involves working near moving or mechanical equipment.
• The employee is regularly exposed to fumes and airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.
• Some travel may be required.
Candidate skills & requirements
• Must be proficient in the use of the MRP modules in M3 or be able to demonstrate your knowledge of how MRP systems work.
• Must be an initiative taker.
• Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.
• Ability to type.
• Ability to work with specific computer software.
• Familiarity with industry terminology.
