Your role and responsibilities
This position is for a lab technician that has run specialized equipment in a lab or manufacturing environment. Important attributes are attention to detail, ability to follow protocols and continued improvement of processes for improved efficiency. The environment is high paced with a dynamic team doing development work. Experience with semiconductor or semiconductor packaging equipment is a plus. Specifically, the lab technician will collaborate with engineers and scientists on solder bumping, thermal compression bonding, and package assembly processing. The candidate will be part of a team encompassing the IBM Microelectronics Research Lab (MRL), Albany Nanotech Lab (ANT), and the Quantum Assemble Lab (QAL). These facilities provide world class 200/300 mm wafer scale fabrication and packaging services to multiple clients including Semiconductor Development, Quantum Computing, Artificial Intelligence, and government programs.
Required technical and professional expertise
* Familiarity with operating specialized lab or manufacturing equipment.
* Great manual dexterity for manipulating smaller mechanical parts.
* Good organizational, communication, and presentative skills are imperative.
Preferred technical and professional experience
* Familiarity with semiconductor processing, such as metal deposition, bonding, and package assembly.
* Capability to learn new processes and semiconductor packaging tools quickly.
* Driving improvements with processes and tools through inspection and metrology, with a goal of tighter quality distribution, higher efficiency (throughput improvement) and great yield.
