    Job Description

    AECOM is seeking a Director/Associate Vice President of AI and Data Analytics to support the East and LATAM Region of our newly formed Advisory Global Business Line. We are looking for an individual with a strong background in science-based systems and process modeling, industry experience, big-picture strategic vision, business development acumen, and leadership skills. This a hybrid role with in-office requirements that is available anywhere in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States near an AECOM office.

     

    This individual will work closely with the Global Director of Urban Analytics, Global and Regional Advisory Leadership, and various Client Account Managers to guide and oversee projects and pursuits with a technical focus on providing decision support with specialized analytics and methodologies. The role will include guiding the enhancement and evolution of legacy systems, integration of new methods and technologies in geo-spatial science, artificial intelligence and machine learning and exploring industry applications in a variety of domains, including sustainable and smart city development, resilient infrastructure systems, ecological and environmental planning, and others. This newly created role will bridge technical innovation with enterprise strategy, supporting adoption and integration of data-analytics driven solutions throughout AECOM’s business lines and regions.

     

    The successful candidate will bring a combination of executive level strategic vision and hands on expertise, able to mentor technical teams in the details of geospatial intelligence, decision science, and Insights through AI/ML solutions while guiding senior leadership on market strategy and client impact. In this role, you will spearhead transformative collaborations with strategic partners on landmark projects and initiatives that leverage shared data and technologies to address pressing challenges facing our global clients.

    Responsibilities:

    The primary responsibility of this newly created role is to be a strategy leader and a business builder for AI, Data Analytics and Technology across all business lines in the East/LATAM region. This individual will need to have a big-picture growth mindset coupled with analytical skills, and deep knowledge of federal, municipal and private clients.

     

    • **Provide strategic and technical AI/ML leadership** - Provide subject matter expertise to ensure alignment of AI/ML solutions with AECOM’s global strategy. Guide development and deployment of Gen AI, Agentic AI, machine learning, and geospatial AI applications for our clients. Provide oversight and guidance to technical groups within Urban Analytics including the Geospatial Intelligence Unit, the Urban Insights and AI/ML Unit, the Decision Science Unit.

    • **Lead Advisory pursuits and projects** - Lead the design and execution of cutting-edge geospatial, AI/ML-enabled, decision support projects and initiatives, bridging technical innovation with business outcomes for our clients. Lead client engagement efforts to understand client needs, obtain feedback, and refine business objectives. Work collaboratively with Client Account Managers (CAMs), and Business Line Leadership to grow profitable backlog.

    • **Build a network of partners** - Develop and lead collaborative initiatives with strategic partners, including ESRI, to create legacy projects addressing major ecological or biodiversity challenges. Leverage combined data, tools, and expertise to position AECOM as an industry leader in applied geospatial AI.

    • **Engage with key enablers** - Act as a trusted advisor to AECOM leadership, clients, and partners by effectively communicating technical concepts and research findings at the C-suite level. Influence global strategy, policy, and investment decisions through thought leadership.

    • **Develop and lead teams** - Mentor and develop multidisciplinary teams of data scientists, engineers, and domain experts. Foster a collaborative, innovative, and inclusive culture that supports professional growth and accelerates delivery of complex objectives and initiatives. Prepare and deliver presentations and communications to share exemplar projects.

    Qualifications

    **Required Qualifications** :

    * Bachelor’s degree, preferably in data science, geospatial analytics, environmental science, engineering, or related technical discipline.

    * A minimum of 12 years of experience in the field with 4 years in a leadership role.

    * Recognized expertise in artificial intelligence, machine learning, spatio-temporal geospatial modeling, ecological analytics, and water resources.

    * Demonstrated experience developing predictive models, remote sensing workflows, and AI-enabled decision-support tools for large-scale environmental challenges.

    * Demonstrated ability to secure large contracts and strategically build the business.

    * Strong professional network across federal agencies, non-profits, NGOs, and industry leaders.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    * M.S. or Ph.D. in data science, geospatial analytics, environmental science, engineering, or related technical discipline.

    * Experience building partnerships with technology companies (e.g., ESRI, AWS, Planet) to co-develop innovative solutions.

    * Recognized contributor to the advancement of ecological, geospatial, or water science through publications, thought leadership, and/or high-visibility projects.

    * High energy, collaborative, and service-oriented leadership style.

    * Deep commitment to responsible AI, sustainability, and resilience.

    Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $175000 to $225000.
