Job Summary

Over the last several years, Battelle has been making a significant investment in the development of innovative technologies for per and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). We are currently seeking a **PFAS Chemistry Program Manager** (Chemist III) to join our expanding team. This position will provide client-facing leadership for the execution of research and client consultation in PFAS analytical services.

Responsibilities

+ Leadership in commercialization of analytical and treatment offerings tailored to the needs of sector-specific clients

+ Consulting/Assisting clients in understanding, interpreting, and contextualizing complex analytical results

+ Supporting market strategy to best address industry-specific needs through client engagement

+ Supporting Emerging Contaminants initiative by establishing tactical plan for sector-specific targets

+ Drive collaboration in research and development collaboration and funding with external entities to better meet industry needs

+ Lead and/or support method development/analytical services internal R&D projects

Day-to-day activities may include:

+ Performs complex assignments by generating and evaluating experimental data, preparing data summaries, analyzing technical against quality objectives.

+ Analyzes and interprets data collected. Prepares technical reports and makes presentations to client, both formal and informal.

+ Troubleshoots complex testing processes when expected results are not obtained and direct lower level staff in resolving analysis problems.

+ Conducts and/or leads technical projects or phases of technical projects and direct staff in the performance of assigned projects within time and budget constraints.

+ Build relationships with internal and external clients and presents research results.

+ Communicate with clients with regard to the schedule and quality of deliverables.

+ Participate in scientific conferences, peer review panels, and increase company visibility through publications.

Key Qualifications

+ Bachelor’s degree in related field with 8 years of experience or master’s degree in related field with 5 years of experience or PhD with 3 years experience; or an equivalent combination of education and or experience in a related field.

+ Recognized as an expert in emerging contaminants, and PFAS specifically.

+ Recognized as an expert in one or more market sector (e.g., semiconductor, oil & gas, waste management).

Preferred Qualifications

+ Consideration will be placed on those who have research and development experience with commercial industries and/or state/local governments.

+ Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills with ability to represent Battelle as client-facing subject-matter expert.

+ Travel (30-40%) to client locations and conferences is required
