The Position

The Portfolio Rotation Program (PRP) is a 2 year rotational program that provides motivated early-in-career individuals the opportunity to learn the management principles behind drug development and commercialization. PRP participants in the program will evaluate business strategies and options, develop program management expertise, support world-class science, and tap into numerous career development resources. The goal is to build a diverse talent pipeline of future industry leaders with drug development and commercialization experience and biopharmaceutical business expertise.
PRP participants will have the opportunity to rotate in the Program Management, Portfolio Management, and Commercial Strategy functions across the drug development life cycle at Genentech. Participants will be embedded in teams advancing potential medicines across the drug development life cycle (early preclinical development, Phase 1 to 3 clinical trials, and after commercial launch).
Rotations occur in the following departments:
Genentech Research and Early Development (gRED)
+ Program Management and Resource Planning (gRED PM&RP
+ Portfolio Strategy and Planning (gRED PSP)
Product Development (PD)
+ Global Program Management (PD PSD GPM
+ Portfolio Strategy & Management( PD PSM)
Commercial, Medical, and Governmental Affairs (CMG)
+ Data Digital & Analytics
At Genentech, the project management functions play a critical role in delivering transformative medicines to patients by driving strategic drug development planning, execution and decision-making through cross-functional teams. The portfolio management functions take a holistic view of all the drugs in our development portfolio and different types of risk to generate objective business insights that frame and enable portfolio-wide decision making. Once a drug is approved, the Data Digital & Analytics function uses competitive intelligence, primary insights, data analytics, access, and forecasting to unlock key insights for our internal partners that ultimately benefit healthcare providers and patients. Together, these functions will provide the PRP participant the holistic view, training and experience to become a drug development professional within the biopharmaceutical industry.
Responsibilities may include (depending on the rotation department):
+ Facilitate project team meetings, cross-functional communication and decision making, ensuring alignment with internal and external stakeholders
+ Establish and maintain functionally integrated project schedules to enable accurate project, financial and portfolio analyses and ensure accurate inputs are provided into business planning processes
+ Assess the business case for a specific drug development decision, including valuation of various options to be considered by leadership
+ Evaluate Genentech’s drug development portfolio against business strategy, competitive pressures, and other market dynamics to identify strategic initiatives that would enhance the portfolio
+ Conduct market research, forecasting, and data analytics to develop strategic sales & marketing insights and deliver impactful presentations to executive leadership that drive business impact across the organization

Who we are looking for:
We are seeking candidates with a broad range of experiences and backgrounds that help bring unique perspectives to meet our business goals. Candidates with high potential for this position will be intellectually curious and interested in learning about the drug development business and processes necessary to deliver medicines to patients. They should also be highly self-motivated and collaborative, willing to work independently or as part of multidisciplinary teams.
Who You Are:
+ Advanced degree holders (MS, MBA, PharmD, PhD in STEM-related fields or current postdocs) who are less than 2yrs from their last degree.
+ Must be a recent graduate (less than two years since graduating from your last degree)
+ 0-2 years of work experience in the biotechnology industry
+ 1 year of business experience in a non lab role through an internship or full-time opportunity or consulting clubs
+ Passionate about helping patients and engaging with their communities
+ Strong interest in learning about drug development and pursuing a career in the biopharmaceutical industry
+ Evidence of resilience and persevering through challenges
+ Strategic thinking, results oriented
+ Embraces working in a culture where receiving and providing feedback is valued
+ Industry experience is not a requirement to apply

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $99,300 and $184,500. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
