Job Purpose:
Contribute to customer satisfaction through the application of specialized knowledge, skills, and abilities to tasks / projects associated with the products we design, manufacture, sell, and other related services we provide. The Service Reliability Manager is responsible for leading a diverse team of individuals with a focus on identifying, quantifying, and driving Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) projects to field corrective action, while providing regular updates / presentations to internal and external customers. The Service Reliability Manager will play a pivotal role in providing guidance, direction, and prioritization to the team of Service Reliability Project Leads and Service Reliability Analysts to ensure projects addressing product reliability are rigorously driven to closure through the structured CPI process.

Key Job Elements:
• Understand and manage team priorities to ensure alignment with overall organizational priorities for CPI projects;
• Where necessary, develop, improve, and document standard work processes to provide structure to and improve efficiency of the team;
• Act as a coach and mentor to team members, fostering personal and professional growth while instilling a positive culture;
• Collaborate with Engineering and Quality teams to align priorities and effectively manage resources;
• Monitor and manage CPI resource budget;
• Collaborate with customer representatives to ensure the Voice of the Customer is understood and incorporated throughout the CPI project;
• Support the Field Service teams with the development of implementation plans for solutions developed through CPI;
• Regularly communicate the status of CPI projects and associated problem resolution to internal and external customers.
Qualifications and Experience:
• A demonstrated passion for problem solving and continuous improvement;
• High-level of interpersonal skills required to work effectively with customers and others;
• Strong verbal and written communication skills required in dealing with internal and external customers;
• Proficient with Microsoft Office software, particularly Excel;
• Understanding of engineering theory and principles of design;
• Ability to work independently and with others;
• Understanding of problem solving principles, such as Six Sigma or Shainin;
• Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage and track multiple ongoing projects;
• Knowledge of fundamental data analytics and visualization;
• Willing to travel on extended basis as needed (domestic and international);
• Basic locomotive and/or heavy equipment knowledge.
Preferred Skills
• Strong leadership and mentorship experience;
• Project management training, up to and including PMP certification;
• Six Sigma Green Belt certification or higher;
• Shainin RedX Apprentice certification or higher;
• Ability and/or experience resolving complex electrical and/or mechanical problems;
• Understanding of engineering theory and principles of design;
• Ability to read engineering drawings and sketches;
• Understanding of design / manufacturing process;
• Detail oriented and meticulous;
• Experience with EMD locomotives;
• Knowledge of locomotive shop practices
Essential and Physical Activities Functions
• Motion – The position spends most of the time in an office setting. The position will require occasional walking, standing, stooping, and bending;
• Vision/Hearing Requirements – This position spends prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer and must be able to communicate effectively with internal and external customers;
• Work Environment – Work in temperature-controlled environment;
• Emotional Demands – Required to liaise with multiple levels within the organization, including senior leaders and managers. Individual must be well-spoken, able to manage multiple priorities and individual requests daily;
• Safety – This is not a safety sensitive position. It is primarily an office position requiring awareness of the safety requirement in an office environment within the facility; must be capable of following all safety protocols. When traveling to supplier, customer, or production facilities, local safety requirements and practices must be followed.
