Overview
**Memorial Hospital Belleville** is an acute care hospital offering medical and surgical services plus critical and emergency care including Children’s at Memorial for pediatric emergency care. It provides patients a full complement of diagnostic and treatment services as well as heart and vascular care. Memorial, offering medical and surgical services plus critical care, is an accredited Chest Pain Center with PCI by the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care and is designated as an Acute Stroke Ready Hospital by the Illinois Department of Public Health. In addition, Memorial Belleville recently was accredited by the American College of Radiology as a designated Lung Cancer Screening Center. Since 2008, it has been designated as a Magnet®-recognized organization for nursing excellence by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
**Memorial Hospital Shiloh** , a 94-bed, all-private suite hospital was recognized with Magnet status in 2018 and provides emergency care, labor & delivery, nursery, medical and surgical services plus critical care.
The Nursing Administration oversees the various Nursing departments and provides clerical support.
Preferred Qualifications
Role Purpose
The Surgical Clinical Reviewer (SCR) is responsible for abstracting and sharing reliable data for the American College of Surgeons National Quality Improvement Program (ACS NSQIP). This is accomplished through case inclusion screening, clinical chart review with application of ACS NSQIP-specific variable definitions, and data entry into the ACS NSQIP database. The SCR disseminates data and analytic reports to the NSQIP Surgeon Champion and hospital surgical stakeholders.
Responsibilities
+ Identifies surgical patients for inclusion in the program registry through strict application of program inclusion/exclusion criteria, randomization protocol, and site-specific sample.
+ Responsible for reliable collection of preoperative, operative, and postoperative data through effective utilization of medical record system and available clinical information resources
+ Responsible for meeting the accrual requirement of cases (per 8-day cycle and per year) through the correct application of the program’s randomization protocol and timely case completion prior to registry lock dates.
+ Establishes effective working relationships with members of the hospital community, especially staff in Surgery, Quality, Nursing, Medical Records, and the Information Systems departments whose support is necessary for the management and success of the program. As a content expert, cultivates stakeholders’ engagement through program awareness, data dissemination including development of report summaries and presentations, and alignment with quality initiatives, including provision of additional relevant data and insights.
+ Ensures data integrity through active data quality checks (i.e., cycle self-audit, monthly occurrence reporting, Semi-Annual Report (SAR) 4th quartile second look), participation in BJC NSQIP team meetings, and ACS conferences and educational programs.
