    Description

    The School of Engineering Medicine at Texas A&M University invites applications for a full-time,11-month academic professional track (non-tenure), faculty position at the Instructional assistant professor, Instructional associate professor, and Instructional professor level, depending on qualifications, to teach medical pathology, histology, and pathophysiology in the pre-clinical curriculum. Anticipated start date spring 2026.

     

    EnMed is the School of Engineering Medicine’s innovative medical education program, developed in a partnership with the, Texas A&M College of Medicine, Texas A&M College of Engineering and Houston Methodist Hospital, to educate “physicianeers,” a new kind of physician who will create transformational technology to solve health care’s greatest challenges. The EnMed medical education program offers a blended engineering and medicine curriculum with a focus on innovation and entrepreneurship. EnMed is the nation’s only program that allows graduates to receive both the Master of Engineering and Doctor of Medicine degrees in four years. EnMed is located in Houston’s Texas Medical Center (TMC).

    Duties/Responsibilities:

    + Participate in developing and delivering the pre-clerkship curriculum

    + Work with other EnMed faculty to integrate medical training with instruction in applying engineering principles toward advancing medical innovation and improving clinical medicine

    + Teach within the foundational and organ-block courses in the pre-clerkship curriculum, with a focus on pathology, histology, and pathophysiology

    + May also be required to teach or lead pre-clerkship courses based on areas of expertise

    + Contribute to curricular development and development of innovative instructional methods, participation in committees, admissions, and fostering collaboration among the three EnMed partners

    Qualifications

    Required:

    + Medical Degree (MD) or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in related discipline

    + Specific expertise is required in one or more core pre-clerkship curricular topics, including pathology, histology, and/or pathophysiology, with clinical insight into disease presentation and reasoning

    + Demonstrate a commitment to education that synergistically aligned with the goals of EnMed

    Preferred:

    + Experience teaching in a preclinical curriculum

    + Engineering background or experience working with students with engineering degrees
