    A new study is underway to identify biomarkers for stroke in newborns. The research assistant will play a key role in supporting the progress of this project through a range of responsibilities and is expected to demonstrate commitment and professionalism throughout the duration of the study. This position is ideally looking for someone who could stay in the role for a minimum of two years.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Maintain a RedCap database to record and manage participant information accurately.

    + Process blood and urine samples for multiplex assays and RNAseq studies, ensuring quality and reliability of the data collected.

    + Participate in patient enrollment in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), requiring strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and staff.

    + Conducts routine laboratory experiments and procedures according to protocols, maintaining records, checking for accuracy, and troubleshooting as needed.

    + Manages lab maintenance tasks such as cleaning, sterilizing, organizing supplies, and ensuring compliance with safety procedures and regulations.

    + Engages in continuous learning through courses, literature reviews, and collaboration with peers, contributing to the research team and suggesting improvements or new techniques.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Education:

    + A Bachelor’s Degree in STEM is required.

    Experience:

    + Experience in developmental neuroscience preferred.

    + Experience with Microsoft Excel for data organization and analysis.

    + Familiarity with GraphPad Prism for statistical analysis and data visualization.
