Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer
Job Description
In this key role, you will provide manufacturing engineering leadership throughout the launch of a new vehicle model. You will take full ownership of processes and equipment in an area of the assembly line, while supporting other areas as necessary.
Responsibilities
+ Deliver Manufacturing Quality Operating System requirements for Exterior Systems and Chassis Components.
+ Collaborate with the Product Development team to generate facility and tooling costs, improve quality, and reduce labor requirements.
+ Use virtual tools to evaluate the feasibility of new model designs for assembly operations and confirm all product designs adhere to standard manufacturing requirements.
+ Evaluate Significant and Critical Characteristics established by Product Engineers and develop a Failure Mode Avoidance plan/documentation for New Model Programs.
+ Write, modify, and maintain process sheets and deliver updated Cycle Line Layouts during the development of the manufacturing process.
+ Lead identification, resolution, and closure of Final Assembly Engineering feasibility issues.
+ Review lessons learned from new model launches and implement preventative actions into future programs.
+ Collaborate with multi-functional groups including Program Implementation Teams, Product Development, Supplier Technical Assistance, Material Planning & Logistics, and New Model Programs.
+ Lead the design and build of Final Assembly tooling with equipment suppliers in the Metro Detroit Area.
+ Lead the implementation of Final Assembly tooling in a Final Assembly Plant, supporting scheduling, installation, build events, and production scaling of the equipment.
+ Track and resolve issues through all phases of the project.
Essential Skills
+ Two or more years of experience in Automotive Manufacturing Engineering.
+ Two or more years of experience with automotive assembly tooling, processes, and facilities.
+ Experience with Work Station setup, Fixture tooling, and Lift assist tools.
+ Proven leadership and project management skills.
+ Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
+ Experience with 3D CAD (such as Teamcenter, VisMockup, CATIA, or equivalent).
+ Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
+ Understanding of PFMEA and failure mode avoidance principles.
+ Ability to operate in stressful situations within timing constraints.
+ A history of working with minimal direct supervision.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with Exterior Ornamentation and Chassis Component assembly.
+ Error proofing experience.
Work Environment
Position will be on-site. Extensive travel will be required in 6-8 months to the Kentucky area to follow the tooling procured and assist with its commissioning and startup.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $43.00 - $50.00/hr.
