Job Title: Manufacturing Technician
Job Description
Aerotek is hiring immediately for a maintenance technician in Sturbridge, MA! Join a dedicated team of technicians working on the 1st shift to produce specialty optical fiber products. You will be instrumental in setting up and operating computerized lathes and other equipment, contributing to the development of materials used in aerospace, defense, and medical industries. This position is full time offering competitive pay and benefits!
Responsibilities
+ Perform manual and mechanical operations to support optical fiber preform production.
+ Conduct glass working duties such as welding, cutting, glass setup preparation, and etching.
+ Support and execute Modified Chemical Vapor Deposition (MCVD) operations as required.
+ Operate production-tracking software and maintain accurate production records.
+ Assist in training activities for employees within the Preform Department.
+ Establish documentation for manufacturing procedures and processes.
+ Etch preforms to achieve the desired diameter and inspect products through index profile tests.
+ Adjust recipe phases to ensure correct heat, solenoid, and mode code settings.
+ Read and interpret GDS schematics.
Essential Skills
+ Minimum of 2 years of manufacturing experience.
+ High school diploma.
+ Strong math skills.
+ Ability to work in fast-paced environments.
+ Familiarity with GMP standards.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with glass work is preferred but not required.
+ Blueprint reading and interpretation is a significant advantage.

Work Environment
Training will be conducted on the first shift for 4-6 months from 8 am to 4 pm, including paid lunch and breaks. The second shift runs from 4 pm to 12 am, Monday through Friday, with an 8% differential on top of the base rate. Enjoy a structured schedule and a supportive work environment.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $47840.00 - $56160.00/yr.
