Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.
Versant Media is seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Director, Resource Planning Development to lead the strategic evolution of our workforce scheduling and resource management systems. This role is critical in driving operational excellence across our production ecosystem by optimizing scheduling workflows, enhancing system integrations, and ensuring compliance with labor regulations. The ideal candidate will be a systems thinker with deep expertise in media production operations, workforce planning, and technology-driven process improvement. This role reports into the VP, Scheduling Fulfillment & Creative Project Planning.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Lead the development and continuous improvement of scheduling standards, workflows, and governance models within the Showrunner platform.
+ Architect scalable scheduling solutions that support diverse production environments, including union and non-union labor models.
+ Drive the strategic integration of Showrunner with SAP, Timekeeper, and other enterprise platforms to ensure seamless data flow and operational consistency.
+ Oversee the accuracy and timeliness of worker compensation processes by managing system configurations and data integrity across scheduling and payroll platforms.
+ Monitor and enforce adherence to collective bargaining agreements, labor laws, and internal business rules across all production units.
+ Serve as a key liaison between production teams, labor relations, and HR to resolve scheduling and compliance issues.
+ Partner with department heads, production leads, and finance teams to align scheduling practices with business objectives and budgetary constraints.
+ Champion consistency in business administration practices across Versant’s production units, fostering a unified operational framework.
+ Lead the design and validation of complex scheduling scenarios, ensuring API endpoints and system logic are robust, scalable, and future proof.
+ Develop and deploy automation tools and AI-driven features to enhance forecasting, resource allocation, and scenario planning.
+ Oversee the implementation of accurate Paid Time Off (PTO) tracking and reporting mechanisms across departments.
+ Design and deliver comprehensive training programs for managers, schedulers, and employees on Showrunner functionality, system updates, and best practices.
+ Foster a culture of continuous learning, system adoption, and operational excellence through proactive engagement and support.
Qualifications:
+ 8+ years of experience in media operations, scheduling, or content fulfillment.
+ Proven expertise in production operations, workforce management, or resource planning.
+ Strong understanding of union regulations and labor compliance.
+ Familiarity with scheduling and payroll systems; experience with Showrunner and Timekeeper is a plus.
+ Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and drive change.
+ Excellent communication, analytical, and project management skills.
+ Passion for innovation, automation, and leveraging technology to solve operational challenges.
Additional Information
This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.
This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
