    Introduction

Research Scientists at IBM drive the leading edge of quantum computing technologies with the industry’s most advanced hardware and software. Join an elite team of researchers and engineers building a path towards scalable fault tolerant quantum computation.

    Your role and responsibilities

IBM Quantum is hiring a Research Scientist to contribute to the development of advanced, high-performance mixed-signal circuits in advanced nodes for exploratory applications. We focus on circuit designs targeting the development of differentiated solutions for a range of communication and computation challenges, including the creation of CMOS-based electronics for quantum computing applications. Successful applicants will have demonstrated experience in RF, analog, and/or mixed-signal circuit design. In this role, you may be tasked with designing blocks such as phase-locked-loops (PLL), digital-to-analog converters, analog-to-digital converters, RF or wireline transmitters, RF or wireline receivers, and complex mixed-signal subsystems. You will be involved in all aspects of design projects from concept and IC architecture exploration/definition to system integration to bring up and test; demonstrated hands-on lab skills are therefore important. In addition, background in communication theory and systems and/or quantum computing would be advantageous.

    Required technical and professional expertise

'- Degree: Master’s degree or equivalent experience.

    - Analog/Mixed-Signal Circuit Design: A strong foundation and experience in schematic and physical design of RF, analog, and/or mixed-signal circuits design. (2 years).

    - CMOS implementation: Demonstrated expertise through successful implementation of RF, analog, and/or mixed-signal designs in deep submicron CMOS technology, including an understanding of CMOS device characteristics (2 years).

    - EDA: A thorough knowledge of the Cadence IC design framework, (2 years)..

    Preferred technical and professional experience

    '- Degree: Doctorate.

    - Demonstrated expertise on PLL design in deep submicron CMOS including architecture, key building blocks, physical design and measurement.

    - Custom Digital Circuit Design: Proficiency in custom digital circuit design and implementation in deep submicron technology (2 years).

    - Programming Skills: Candidates with strong programming skills in commonly used languages (2 years).

    - Communication and collaboration skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are highly valued for effective collaboration within the team. A track record of successful participation in multi-disciplinary research and development projects is a plus.

    - Research skills: Proven record of research accomplishment (e.g. publications)

IBM is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal-opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, caste, genetics, pregnancy, disability, neurodivergence, age, veteran status, or other characteristics.
