Description:
The Certified Nursing Assistant is responsible for direct patient care tasks as assigned and under supervision of professional nursing personnel. Also provides indirect care to maintain unit functions as directed by the professional nursing staff i.e. care and cleaning of specific equipment, transportation of patients, stocking of supplies and equipment, etc.
Job Responsibilities:
+ Performs hygiene/comfort measures including bath/shower, mouth care, shaving etc.
+ - Demonstrates skills necessary to assist the licensed nurse in monitoring/evaluation of the patient i.e. (vital signs, intake and output, weighing).
+ -Demonstrates essential knowledge and skill in caring for an agitated/confused patient (de-escalation techniques, distraction, etc)
+ -Demonstrates ability to assist patients in activities of daily living i.e. (set up trays, feeds patients, delivers snacks, dysphasia protocols, determines need for toileting, determines need for comfort measures, refills water pitchers, answers patient call light etc).
+ Repositions residents every 2 hours or as needed to maintain circulation and prevention of pressure ulcers.
+ -Demonstrates essential knowledge and skill in caring for the diabetic resident (signs and symptoms of hyper/hypo glycemia, foot care etc.)
+ Provides 1:1 suicide/close observation. falls prevention precautions as assigned.
+ Responsible for all resident comfort measures, i.e. blankets, pillows, call bells, etc.
+ Obtain Vital Signs and Weights document in EMR. Measuring and documenting intake and output in EMR.
